My letter to Dymo (which I doubt Dymo will allow to be posted): 1. Is there any way to upgrade my Cardscan Executive 800c / v. 8.0.5 software to run on my 64 bit, MS Office 2010 laptop? A machine that is 2 years old by the way. 2. If not, will your latest scanner and software work with my 64 bit machine? (if no, that's another huge disappointment and I'll be forced to go to another offering). 3. If answers to #1 and #2 are "No", could one of your techies at least point me towards a way to export data/card scans into another scanner/software product so I won't lose the countless years of cardscans I currently have? Dymo's response (didn't answer the questions): About your issue, CS 800C can't run on Office 2010 -64 bits. Is also possible to export all your existing contacts as .csv file in your Outlook
Pros: Easy To Use, Good Resolution, Easy To Transport, Scans Accurately, Scans Quickly
Cons: Difficult To Sync
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Product but software falling behind

I have owned CardScan for years and was generally very happy. So much so, I upgraded to the Executive verson. But the software has not been kept up to date and does not interface to Act 2013. There are no announced plans for a software update to address the problem. Which I read as NEVER. Therefore this is an OBSOLETE product.
Pros: Scans Accurately, Good Resolution
Cons: Difficult To Sync, No Interface To Act 2013
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Cardscan has permitted me to reclaim otherwise lost areas on my desk. I use it to create orgainzed databases of clients who use specific services my firm offers and then to sync them with ACT! I also use it to quickly create and update databases for state and federal legislators which are likewise synchronized. It works so well for me, I've purchased several of them for my sales and operations teams who use them in similar manner for their priorities. The biggest benefit is in claiming card information which then permits us to re-use that card and distribute it to other business contacts who may benefit from the contact. This is a good thing we have here!
Pros: Easy To Search, Easy To Use, Good Resolution, Scans Quickly, Scans Accurately
I would recommend this to a friend!

Card Scan was the perfect product for my profession. I even got my "technically challenged" coworkers to learn and even use it! It saved us time and money by easing the burden of taking the data from business cards and sharing it with others and my favorite feature of all the "one button" transfer to Outlook. But I'm sad to say it's allover now. I got a MAC and Card Scan does not work with my OS. I'll cross my fingers and hope Card Scan can get with the times.
Pros: So easy to use
Cons: Till I got a MAC
I would recommend this to a friend!

CARD SCAN SOFTWARE HAS BUGS

I constantly get asked to register the product each time I open the program when I have already done that several times. It ties the program up each time I open the program with several questions to complete before it releases the program. Tech support has not been helpful to solve the problem. The reader scans very well but then I go to send an email to a contact business card that I just scanned in and the card is no where to be found in the database! It shows as being in the database but it is not available to select from outlook. Totally frustrated with these continious timewasting situations
Pros: Good Resolution, Scans Accurately, Scans Quickly
Cons: Difficult To Search, Difficult To Sync, Difficult To Transport
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unfinished Product With Potential

The product is highly inaccurate in capturing contacts from the majority of countries be it from cards or from web sites. When I say highly inaccurate, I mean that it often puts the information in the wrong fields, does not regonize Sweden, Denmark, UK... as countries etc. Great for the US, but it leaves a lot to be desired for other regions. It is only a fraction of cards that will be 100% correct, but it is still a help. Worst part is the tremendous risk of erasing central information in your PIM. A feature sorely missing is the ability to associate categories to those fields in your PIM. This means that the categories in your PIM are never vorrect when you import via CardScan
Pros: Good Resolution, Easy To Use, Scans Quickly, Easy To Transport
Cons: Duplication of Contacts, Difficult To Search, Inaccurate, Inept of international us, Dangerous Sync Logic
I have been with cardscan since 1995, left last year to try a new product and it was a piece of garbage. Threw it away and came right back to my card scan executive, simple easy to use and works like a gem!
I bought the cardscan less than a month ago and I miss the previous version.
I was told this works better with Windows 7 so I bought a new one.
The previous cardscan could scan several cards quickly, edit and synchronize updating the current card without duplicating it.
1) When you work for more than one person, being able to scan directly into the person's address book is a nice feature. 2) New version does one card at a time and seems to take longer. 3) Outlook Address Book interferes with my searching quickly for a name. It can be very irritating as an assistant if I need to transfer a call or a call with a few people on line and my search takes a few minutes to look up the person I need to transfer to or conference in. Sometimes it freezes or if you type one or two letters in, it goes to an entirely different letter in the alphabet. 5) I don't like how Outlook previews the card whenever the Outlook address book is open. 6) Every card I scan duplicates the business phone under other; the email under other and sometimes the fax number. I have to go in and delete duplicate number and check behind each pull down.
