I can't imagine living without CardScan. I organized more than a thousand cards in less than 2 hours.

The "Nuclear Option" against clutter

As a high tech executive, I exchange hundreds, if not a thousand, business cards a year. Cardscan allows myself, and my assistant, to make use of this valuable information in a way that would not be economical or even possible, without Cardscan. Features: 1. Cardscan easily scans and displays BOTH sides of the card which is indispensible for bi-lingual Asian business cards where capturing the Chinese wriitng is essential to understanding the real position of the card holder. 2. Thousands of cards have been scanned by my Cardscan and in the process the scanning element picked up dirt from the cards. The unit was EASILY cleaned by removing four screws and wiping off the lens with a damp cloth. This is crucial to an industrial tool. 3. Although I export my scans to Outlook, I also keep my Cardscan data on my PC as a backup and as a separate filing system for trade shows and other events. The software allows you to easily create a different data base for every trade show, event, date, etc. during which you accumulate a lot of cards. I find that this is an easy way to understand when and how I met contacts without any typing, categorization, etc. in Outlook. Things I would Like to See: 1. Duplex Scanning: Currently, the scanner supports dual sided scanning by a two pass method. I would purchase a scanner that had dual sensor bars which would allow dual sided scanning in one pass. This should be a great feature for Asian trade shows. This is an industrial feature, but one which would justify an increased purchase price. Negatives: 1. Although Cardscan software has consistently improved its recognition of special characters, logos, and other non-data elements of business cards, it can still be fooled by special characters and symbols in the text. One of the most frequent issues I encounter is its treatment of the "|" vertical bar symbol which is used to separate fields on many card designs. One can question the card designer's wisdom here, but I suspect it will be easier for Cardscan to figure out a way to ignore this and other in-line separators.

I receive at least 10 new business cards daily. Some days 50+. CardScan allows me to quickly enter them in Outlook and respond quickly, often before they get back to their desk.
