Pay for what you get

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While I'm happy to have a fridge that works, you can't escape the fact that cheap refrigerators are cheap. The first one delivered made a knocking noise, so I had it returned for another. The new one had the same knocking noise and I suspected it was something inherent to the model. I called for a tech to come take a look at it, and he confirmed that on these lower priced models the freon will make a noise as it expands through the system. He placed a piece of what I can only assume was a baffle to reduce the noise, and that lasted for maybe a day.
I don't know why refrigerators have become yet another disposable product for consumers. The last one I owned had lasted over 30 years, replaced that with one that made it only 6 years, and I suspect this one will not last beyond 6-8. It's no frills, not even an ice maker. The components that make up this device is so minimal that it begs the question of how it costs as much as it does other than massive profit. So goes the world these days...
At the end of the day, my food is kept cool, and the freezer works, but I'm disenchanted with an industry that is willing to make IoT (Internet of Things) compatible refrigerators, but unwilling to do the bare minimum to keep their customers from asking: Why is my new fridge making this odd noise?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Fridge,

Nice fridge for our garage
