This refrigerator is a lemon

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter bought this for me in August to replace a refrigerator in my garage. I had the freezer loaded with items only to discover they had thawed since the freezer was not working. After frustrating attempts to have someone look at it under the warranty the repairman said this refrigerator was not suited to be in the garage if the temperatures were below 55 degrees. Well so much for that, because I live in a colder climate.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for sharing your refrigerator experience with us, whydoineedone. We do offer garage kits for refrigerators that are in area where the ambient temperature drops below 55°F. These garage kits need to be installed by a service professional. That being said, the minimum operating temperature of a refrigerator with a garage kit, is 34 degrees Fahrenheit. When the ambient temperature gets below this, the refrigerator will not run at all. So eventually the temperature in the freezer and the fresh food section will become the same as the ambient temperature. So let’s say the ambient temperature has been around 25 degrees for some time. This would mean that the temperature in both sections would be close to 25 degrees. 25 degrees is too cold for the fresh food section and food will start to freeze. 25 degrees is not cold enough for the freezer and things will start to thaw. Things such as meat and ice-cream must be around 0 degrees to stay frozen but things that would be in the fresh food section such as water, soda, beer, eggs or milk will start to freeze at 32 degrees.
