The freezer needs to be defrosted and its only 4 or 5 months old. Is that right

I purchased the refrigerator and just started using it last month after remodeling. I like it and its lots of room, but i don't like the freezer part. It doesn't hold much and I cant remove the center piece.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this refrigerator as a temporary solution due to our LG compressor failing and unable to get parts in a timely manner. The unit cools and freezes fine, but makes strange knocking noises when running.
