You can hear it start, run and stop.
Starts and stops with a tinny ding sound.
When running it can be heard 20 feet away.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was probably the best value for a refrigerator of this size. The best part is the gallon milk holders in the door and the Ease of getting the controls at the right temp for both the freezer and the refrigerator
