Excellent scanner. Produces great quality scans.

Pricey but you get what you pay for. Included Epson software is good but not great. Included Silverfast software is very good but not user friendly. Takes effort to learn how to use but once you figure it out, it produces great scans. Would rate it a 4 because of the software but there isn't anything better out there. Tried Vuescan: not as fast nor as good as Silverfast.
Could have bought the less expensive model but it just didn't have the features, software was not as good and the scans were not as sharp.
This is the one to buy.

Outstanding Scanner

I usually use my scanner for repairing damaged pictures, especially old family heirlooms and photos of value to families. The V800 is completely perfect for this application. The Digital Ice feature is great for eliminating small irregularities. The output is valuable for importing to Photoshop to make more extensive repairs. I would not give up my V800.

I am exceptionally pleased with this product. To date I've scanned over 7000 photographs. Scanning is fast. The software is easy to use. Restoring older photographs in the digital format results in superior images than the originals. The Epson software and SilverFast work well together.

The software is extremely difficult. I should have sent my negatives and slides to a scanning company.

Epson V800 Photo Color Scanner Gets the Job Done

When my trusty old Epson 2450 finally quite working after over years of scanning, the replacement Epson V800 was the perfect choice. As a artist photographer I scan large scale films and other media for my work, so I needed a solid performing scanner that could handle the work accurately.
The only thing that I would recommend improving is the visibility of the very faint scan "OK" button. On my screen I can barely see it, making it look like a blank button.

Great Scanner

I like this scanner very much. It offers up extreme quality scans.
The only negative that I have to offer is that the film holders are very difficult to use. Their design is problematic. Apart from being very time consuming to load film into and get it seated properly, usually one edge of the film strip is cut off (in 35mm and 120 format).I prefer to have the entire area around the image area to be included in the scan. I'd very much like Epson to come up with a better system and offer them as a replacement to the ones included with my scanner.
I would add that all of my scanning thus far has only been film, so film holder improvement would be a tremendous asset to me. Thank you.

Scanner is fast to warm up and fast to scan. Doing all my scans at double resolution or higher now because of speed. Epson scan software is straightforward. Have tried few negatives so far but with no problems. Speed is better than I expected.
