Switch broke after one season

I have had my Vornado fan for about a year of normal use. When I went to switch it off last night, the dial came off in my hand. The plastic ring inside had cracked. Now the only way to turn off the fan is to unplug it, and I can only use the setting it was on when it broke. Cheap box fans last longer than this. Save your money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Mom lives in a single room in a senior center. The circulation is poor. A fan at the window results in pockets of cold and hot air. This has solved the problem very nicely

I purchased the fan for the express purpose of simulating a natural outdoor breeze to activate an 8-note wind chime inside my home. It works perfectly on low speed and the fan 'noise' is imperceptible. Its off-white color matches our room decor to perfection. What a great find !

I now have 2 Compact 530s. They are unobtrusive, quiet, and really kick out the air for small fans. At low settings they create steady circulation and nobody knows where its coming from.

To make a long story short i had a situation where this fan is running for 8 hours a day or maybe sometimes for 11 hours a day everyday and its been like this for three years now and let me tell you this thing lasts forever i dont know if they knew that when they made it but the fan blade must be a light load on the motor or something but as far as durability goes it has lasted for ages. Ive never owned a fan that has been run for days and years on end so this was the first one. Do all fans last this long i wonder.

I bought the Vornado 530s 2 and 3 years ago. I saw them running in a shop on display and I was impressed by their air movement. These fans are well made and I like the quality. The blades, base and front grill are made of a solid hard plastic. These fans also have weight to them which adds to the quality. I am a happy Vornado owner from Australia!

Great fan

The vornados with the red colored 'V" blowers stronger than the new versions with the blue colored "V' on the grill. My 530 got knocked over and the grill popped off breaking one of the fan blades. I was heartbroken. I did not expect it to break off so easily.

One of the few quality products left

I bought three of these units in the spring of 2011, all 3 have performed flawlessly over the past year. Overall the units are very quiet (except on high mode, but then again no fan is quiet when maxed out) and the medium/low setting are barely noticeable and much better than the competition. If the quality product design wasn't good enough, I recently accidentally knocked over one of these fans (it fell 6 feet, something I expect anything made of plastic to not survive unharmed) and broke one of the fan blades. Customer service was very helpful and despite my admission that it broke due to my fault, Vornado is sending me a replacement fan blade assembly free of charge. This is the type of quality and service that is lacking in many products these days and I highly recommend this fan. Plus it is the easiest fan to clean I have ever owned, overall a very well designed product.
