So far So good!

Just purchased the Fellowes PS-12Cs and, so far, it shreds, isn't too noisey and is easy to empty. Use it at the office and works fine there except when shredding CDs, it spits plastic around a bit. I would recommend this shredder for paper and credit card shredding.
Pros: Quality Construction, Safety Features, Secure Cut Size, Jam Resistance
Our new PS-12C cross-cut shredder was working great, until it encountered one jumbo paperclip. The plastic gear inside stripped, so the shredder is dead. We still have 1/5 boxes of paper to shred or burn. We only managed 1/2 box. We are disappointed. Kate
Cons: Quality Construction, Jam Resistance, jumbo paper clip - stripped plastic gear

Poor purchase decision

Made this purchase to replace a similar Fellowes shredder that wore out.
If I had heard this machine operate before purchasing it I never would have selcted it. My wife complains about the noise in another floor of our home. Can't be talking on the phone in the same room when using it. It is loud enough to literally "wake the dead."
Also disappointed that you can't put a bag in it. Very messy to empty.
Made this purchase based on Fellowes reputation and am disappointed.
Pros: Safety Features, Secure Cut Size, Jam Resistance
Cons: Mess Reduction, Quiet Operation, not a good value
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Big Disappointment

Spent a little more than planned because I told my husband, you get what you pay for. Well, I certainly did'nt. Got shredder home, opened, plugged in, and it does not work, no power gets to it when you plug in. Also, no instruction manual included. Had to print from fellows website. Extremely disappointed as I now have to return to the store. Should have stuck with my "cheap" off brand shredder which worked for almost forever. Live and Learn.

Disappointed

I bought this product about a year and a half ago and suddenly without warning,it's dead.Initially I thougt it was the power outlet that I was using but I tried several others and it's completely dead, doesn't turn on or anything.I am very disappointed as I have half a box of papers that need to be shredded as well as a big mess on the floor. And of course,I cannot find my receipt for this shredder. My wife told me to buy the more expensive models when I was looking for one but I thought this would last a lot longer than a year.

Easy to empty!! Shreds into fine pieces. Worth every penny!
no way. you cant even put the lock button on unlock so you cant put the thing on. It took us about a week. When we did it we had to clean a big mess everywhere. Paper would fly out. Its really annoying. Its not just me I have read other peoples reviews and the same thing. Plus it looks way worse than the picture on the box. We returned it. I told my friends about it they said it was the WORST thing ever. It doesnt even take much papers. It cant even take a bag. When we had it sometimes it would somehow reverse the paper out. It also just stops working. The one I bought before was way better. It would just take the paper and done. This one you can not even unlock it. The manual doesnt say anything about unlocking it. It is very anoying and extremly hard to work with.Even if you just rip a paper up and throw on the ground it would be better than the MESS it makes.AND, yes an and, it is extremly loud. You can put it on the top floor and close the door in that room and go all the way to the basement and shut that door too you can still hear it. It sounds louder than the loudest screem in the WORLD.Not recomended
Cons: Warranty, Sheet Capacity, Service Guarantee, Mess Reduction, Secure Cut Size, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs, Safety Features, Quiet Operation, Quality Construction, Jam Resistance
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dear Customer,
Thank you for taking the time to provide a review of your PS-12Cs shredder. We appreciate the feedback and we are very sorry to hear that you experienced these issues. Though you have already returned your shredder, we would like to follow-up with a few comments regarding the difficulties you had:
1. The lock on the unit is a safety feature and it is intended to be a child proof switch so it is a bit difficult to move. The feature is addressed in the manual under the diagram portion. We are sorry that it is not mentioned any further and have forwarded this suggestion to the Business Team for consideration. We appreciate your taking the time to make this known to us.
2. The noise level of this unit is rated at 70 dB. A normal conversation is rated at 60 dB. Our personal shredders are rated anywhere between 64 dB and 75 dB (Micro shred being the quietest). Have you been oiling the shredder? If not oiled, a machine may experience diminished sheet capacity, intrusive noise, and/or may become jammed. To avoid these problems, we recommend you oil your shredder with shredder lubricant each time you empty your waste bin. Shredder lubricant may be purchased at an office supply store, but a suitable alternative is any 100% liquid vegetable oil you would use in your kitchen (i.e. Canola, Wesson, olive oil, etc.). 3. This unit is designed with a 4 gallon basket. The bag recommended for the unit is bag 36052 which has a 10 gallon capacity and should be a sufficient fit for this unit. With this smaller size, many users opt not to use a bag. If you feel that your unit is creating more of a mess than what would be typical of a shredder, oiling may also be the answer to this issue. If the blades are dry, paper will tend to bind on the cutters and will not drop as freely into the basket. This may at times create more of a mess when the basket is being emptied.
Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and observations regarding your shredder. Fellowes believes in providing quality products and service at a level that our customers will value. We apologize that you had a less than satisfactory experience with the shredder.
