Ugh - so frustrating!

This label printer has been a constant thorn in my side - my Windows desktop simply does not recognize the printer. After uninstalling and reinstalling the "Dymo Connect" software, which appears to be the only source of a print driver, it still does not work - I'm tapping out, and going with another brand for a thermal label printer. Never again, Dymo.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If Windows does not recognize the printer and lists it under “Unspecified” devices, you may try to restart your computer, use another USB cable and connecting the printer to another USB port. These usually solve the problem and after reconnecting, the printer appears under “Printers” in “Devices and Printers”.

prints too small, can't read anything

Only had a problem a few times with UPS or Fedx not being able to read the barcode. The biggest mistake the programmers made with this label printer is that there's no way to set the print size larger unless you use adobe, which has it's own bias against anything on your computer that's not ... to their liking.. let's just say. Therefore you get printed barcodes that you can't read without a mag.glass. Really, it's very irritating. Put up with or go with another brand, there's plenty that work fine without bowing down to adobe or microsoft or any of these brands that won't listen to the thousands upon thousands of customer requests..

DYMO released software: DYMO Label Software and DYMO Connect. In this software you can create labels with font size as big as you want. I know, however that when using UPS or FedEx it is more convenient to use their program which creates the labels automatically. Unfortunately, we have no influence upon these and their font settings. Please note, that when creating standard labels, you can use DYMO Software and its functionalities.

Love the printer, hate how it behaves

So 1 month down and it has decided to stop working 3 times. ONLY way to resolve is to uninstall, restart computer, reinstall and pray it takes. If not do it again

You can try unplugging device from PC and power supply; remove labels; plug power supply back and check if blue light is blinking; then insert labels and try feeding 1 labels. After that please got to Control Panel > Device and Printers and clear all printing queue of the device, right click and remove device; then connect the device back to PC and look for your device on the list. Many Headaches Later... Not Worth It

I've had this printer for close a year now. Like many other have said when it works it's great... but when it doesn't it's a real time waster trying to figure out the issue. No one troubleshooting approach works. And as time goes on, it seems like there are more and more of the same issues (disconnects, doesn't read paper, prints blank paper, etc etc). Not worth it considering it's rather expensive

We would be very happy to assist you in resolving any issues with our products. For issues with excessive feeding I would recommend cleaning the print head and the roller of your LabelWriter. In order to do that, please follow these steps: 1. Please use a business card that is coated with an alcohol-solution such as ethanol, isopropyl, acetone or hand sanitizer 2. Take the card and feed it through the print roller 5-10 times making sure to cover all parts of the printer 3. Please allow 5 minutes for the printer to dry before testing. If have any other issues, please do not hesitate to give our technical support team a call at 877-724-8324 Monday to Friday 9am-5pm EST as we will be happy to assist you. LabelWriter 4XL

Oh how I wished I had read the reviews before I bought this DYMO LabelWriter 4XL.
I have been working for nearly a month to try to use this printer. I called DYMO Support and stayed on the phone (basically on hold) for 1 1/2 + hrs to get help. When someone finally answered the phone, they put me on hold for someone else to help. I never heard from anyone a again so I finally hung up.
Today, I got on chatting with Emmanuel. He tried to help and I guess he got frustrated cause he hung up on me. Then I tried several times today to get back on to chat with someone, and they tell me "no agents are available to chat with me".
I need help !!!!!
Like, I told Emmaneul, I am ready to throw this printer in the trash !!!!
I can't comment on the Pros and Cons of LabelWriter 4X. I have never gotten to use it.

Love My Dymo

I've had my Dymo 4XL for almost 2 years now. Overall I love it. I have had a few problems now and then but have always been able to resolve it. Usually the main problem is making sure the labels are pushed all the way to the left. Once they printed blank but I cleaned the censor and everything was fine. I am trying to figure out if i can use smaller labels in my Dymo right now so I can put a price tag on my products but haven't figured it out yet.
I would recommend this to a friend!
