Terrible, inconsistent and barely works

I bought this a little under a year ago, and would not recommend it to anyone. It has caused us problems every step of the way.

Previous Install Fine - This One Nightmare

Reinstall into same model computer with same operating system (Windows 7 Pro 64 bit), reinstall Dymo software, windows says can't find driver. Uninstall/Reinstall. Windows still not finding driver. Time is money. Money flying out window.

Doesn't Work, Very Disappointing

I just bought this 4XL label printer and I had high hopes. I followed the direction and set out to print a test label. The first time I tried I got it to print but it kept feeding labels, so I had one test label and 4 blanks. I rebooted and tried again and now every time I try to print it says that it is out of paper, but this clearly isn't the case. I have not been able to find a solution and am considering returning it to Quill and buying a different brand. After seeing these reviews I am regretting the initial purchase.

Based on what you have described, I recommend you to be sure the labels are Dymo brand and loaded to the far left of the feed area and are not shifting to the right during printing. This should eliminate the issue of blank labels advancing. Works perfectly

I bought this used from a friend a few years ago and I am amazed that it's still going strong. It has only jammed once and I was able to take it apart completely and put it back together. I have never had any issues with this machine. I think I've printed thousands of labels not to mention the friend who had it before me had a business and printed thousands of labels too. Great product!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Marginal hardware mutilated by dreadful software

iMac Pro, Mojave, 802.11ac iMac sees 4XL on the network, but everything good ends there. The OSX software is atrocious. The templates are useless, but at least you can’t modify them or add new templates or — erase input? Dymo uses smart technology to never remember your address book and requires you to choose it every time you open the app. Dymo software uses smart technology to place return addresses and to addresses into templates, but then it ignores user input and places to into from and won’t allow deletions. You can’t erase or backup: you start over. With nothing. In the unlikely event you reach print, Dymo thinks it’s printed, but it’s failed with no error. At least you get to print lots of expensive, blank labels. iOS. Dymo software is a cruel joke. The OSX and iOS software is so bad, I’m trying to find third-party pay apps.

I bought this for my business and it works wonderful . Very easy set up and very user friendly. It had definitely saved me time and money.

AWFUL

Do not buy this DYMO 4XL Printer! it stops working after a month and will not stop printing extra labels! i have lost so much money due to the design flaw that this printer has!

It is important that the labels have been inserted correctly within your printer. The labels should be inserted through the feed path as far left within the device as possible and the back of the label should be facing you on insertion. Excessive feeding might also be caused by usage of non-DYMO labels, dirty sensors or outdated drivers. We would be very happy to assist you in resolving any issues with any of our products. Doesn't work with a Mac

Trust me on this, don't believe their marketing. I have two iMac's both are newer models. The 4xl will not save image overlays, no matter what you do.

Each time you click on save in the software the labels are saved on your computer and you should be able to access them through the DYMO Label Software under “Saved Labels” provided that they are saved in the default location. You can also check if they are saved in the default location on your computer by following path: Macintosh: Macintosh HD > User > Your User Account > Documents > DYMO Label Software > Labels. If the labels are saved in the default location but not visible in the software, please uninstall the DYMO Label Software by dragging it to the trash and then emptying the trash and then reinstall it.
