I'm still getting use to my printer and the only fault I have as of now is it uses ink at an incredible rate. And the cost is out of this world. The cartridges are twice the volumn of the 1900 and cost twice as much.

good quality photo prints and anything with a photo. text quality not as good. /very large footprint. Very slow printing. Takes a long time to switch to Matt Black and back again and uses a large amount of ink. This would not be my first choice again.

Well, Epson you have really outdone yourself in the R3000. For the 13" size it is Great! It was an upgrade from the 2200 for me and what an upgrade! It hardly makes a sound when printing and almost no vibration! Love everthing about it! The larger tanks of ink, the prints, media paths, the options in printing color and B/W, the speed, the auto switching of black. It's all so Wonderful. You have a very BIG WINNER in your stable! Thank you so much! Chas

Out of the box & running

Having owned an R1800 for about six years, I was looking to move up in quality of my own created prints. Recently having taken some one-day only cactus flower shots and having them professionally enlarged and printed, I took the challenge and attempted a duplicate size print. The results were superb and the colors were more true on my print than on the professionally done comparable copy. I am most satisfied right out of the box.

Just purchased the R3000 to replace an R1800. The print quality and speed are excellent. However, it seems to be going through a few ink cartridges very quickly. Hopefully, this is because they were the first cartridges used.

I have been using an Epson Photo R1800 for the last 5 years. Getting natural looking black and white prints was always a chore. I have only had the R3000 for a day now and I can't believe the quality results I am getting already. Even my color prints were very good using basic settings. Set up was a breeze. The only blip came when I went from printing on glossy to matte media. When I went to print, I received an alert that indicated the wrong ink was in the printer. The way the alert was stated, my first thought was that I had placed the photo and matte black cartridges into the wrong slots and that I need to move them to their correct locations. Not the case. What I needed to do was to select the appropriate ink via the printers onboard menu. Had I not given it some careful consideration, I might have waisted a lot of time and ink switching cartridges back and forth. This alert should be tailored more for the R3000. The only feature I feel is missing is the lack of a gloss optimizer. I will miss the nice even gloss my R1800 gave me. This is the only reason that I did not give the printer a 5 star rating.

I've evolved from the 1800 to the 2880 and now the 3000. The R3000 is an excellent upgrade and right out of the box I have been producing gallery ready prints.
The new features correcting the physical black ink switching and updating the fine art paper feed process are most welcome. The addition of the LCD control panel display is very helpful as is the increased capacity of ink cartridges.
I grew up in the wet process/darkroom era and my transition to the digital world has been made so much easier these past few years with the innovative and impeccably designed and beautiful reproduction capabilities of this Epson line of printers.
