Printing with New Ink Cartridges
on September 13, 2014
Posted by: Anonymous
I just recevieved my new R3000 printer and I had a big order to fill. With the ink that shipped with the printer, I was able to print 43 (8x10) and 30 (11x17) photos before I ran out of my first ink cartridge. I thought this might be useful information for those who are trying to figure out how many photos you can print right out of the gate.

Printing on Canvas? Read this...
on October 31, 2011

I sold my R2400 to buy the R3000 because I wanted to print all my artwork on canvas.
First, let me say the printer prints beautifully, as did the 2400. But feeding canvas into the Front Tray is a problem if it isn't long enough to stay poked out the backside. To get it to poke out the back I had to place a 13x19 cardboard on the tray, slide the canvas in and up, then remove the cardboard. Even then I had a paper skew problem, so I turned that feature off.
I have to fight to make it feed an 8.5x11, for when the canvas hits the back of the printer, it is too thick to bend and slide up the rear tray.
I have ordered a roll of canvas and I believe that will not be a problem. If it is, I will let you know.

Ink Spitting
on August 16, 2014

I'm an artist and love the inks. They do not fade. I bought two of these printers used on two different islands. Both of them occasionally spit ink ruining prints or canvas gicle'es.
One got so bad at the one year mark I have to replace it.

Excellent Photo printer

I replaced my Epson R2400 printer with the Epson R3000 printer. I considered the R2400 to be the perfect printer. I had 13 years of trouble free service with the R2400. So I had to replace it with an Epson photo printer. The R3000 exceeds the quality of the 2400 to a very noticeable degree. the colors are brighter and deeper. The printer is user friendly and has many extra features. I have only one complaint; the Epson 3000 is not shy about using ink. So you do not want to use this printer for every day documents. But i guess that is the price you pay for Perfection.

R3000, Drinks Black Ink.

Print Quality is great, but, switching between Photo Black and Matte Black drinks up a great amount of INK. Where does it go Epson? I would like more control over Black Ink choices as I prefer Matte with all types of media. Epson you need to give us back control and drop this automatic black nonsense which drinks far too much INK. When the better model comes out let me know.

This is my 2nd R3000 in a little over 2 years. Output is very good. Clogged head is the problem. On my [just over 2 years old] R3000 the head clogged after swapping PK to MK inks for printing my Xmas cards. Swapped back to PK and it clogged. No amount of head cleaning would clear the print head. 2 weeks in the repair shop and almost $200 in bills and still clogged. I will no longer swap inks in the new unit and live with the PK ink for all my printing. I replaced the old R3000 with a new one because of the job it does when it prints, but I'm not happy having to replace my lightly used R3000 after only 26 months.

Excellent Photo Printer

I have been using this printer for over a year, primarily for 13x19 color prints that I exhibit and sell and also for black and white prints of all sizes. The quality of the black and white prints is very, very good as are the color prints.
It is easy to use--I make very few changes from the standard set ups. For color, I generally add 5% brightness. For black and white, I prefer the "cool" tone. But these are easy adjustments to make.
I have been pleasantly surprised by how infrequently I need to replace ink cartridges.
I doubt that you can do better for a printer of this size.

Continued ink clogging

I received the R3000 in January. After about 6 weeks it was hopelessly clogged and after 6 cleanings it still couldn't produce a
decent nozzle check. I returned it to Epson & they sent me a
refurbished unit. That clogged up after 2 weeks. Got another one.
Have had it now for about 10 days. Same problem. Thirteen (yes, 13!) cleanings later it is still clogged up and I'm fed up too. I had a Pro 4000 and loved it. But this one...forget about it.
