I started useing Epson printers years ago. This printer does as it was advertised. The printer performs as expected. The print output is excelent,no matter what type of Epson media used. It's nice to not have to manualy switch out the black inks. I wished the unit would use less ink when switching from matt black to photo black. other than that ,the printer is great.

Great Printer

First let me say I love the printer. Photos have never looked so good. If you are thinking you will save money buying this printer versus printing them at your local wholesale club, that might be a stretch if you are trying to get approval from your wife or husband. However, there is something fun about printing your own pictures at home.
Second, my printer was acting funny when I tried using it with roll paper and after some painless discussion with Epson, they sent a replacement. The printer was defective. I have always been impressed with Epson service. These techs always amaze me at their level of service.
Thirdly, I am having difficulty printing 13" wide panoramic pictures with custom sizes. I don't know if this is a Adobe Lightroom issue or an Epson issue. I also use Apple Aperture and having the same difficulty. I use MAC Lion, even tried it with Snow Leopard before I upgraded.
Printer makes wonderful pictures and as others have mentioned can waste ink when switching back and forth between black cartridges.
I have not been able to get AirPrint working with my iPhone or iPad IOS devices. It never locates the R3000 printer when looking for it. I need to contact Epson support about this.
Wireless setup for my wireless network was a breeze if you know all your wireless settings. I use a MAC so I had to manually enter my information into the printer, but it was up in 5 minutes.
The printer is good size and weighs about 40 pounds so make some room.
Overall, love the printer, love the fine art paper, love the support. Thank you Epson.

Nice Printer

I was looking for a printer that prints high quality images on rough thick paper and this does, it took some time and lots of ink to figure out how to get the printer to print the correct colors so I wasted a lot of ink doing that. My only complaint is the ink doesn't last long, so I don't know how economical it will be in the end. I've had the printer for just over a week and I already had to order more ink :O(

Excellent Printer

The setup was fast and easy, the prints are all about as good as they can be, in a word, excellent!
The built in profiles are very accurate, there was no need to refine my settings in Photoshop.
In my opinion the build quality vs the 2880 has improved immensely and that plus the network capability sold me on the printer.
There is a justified compliant on ink cost, but with more capacity, comes more expense, unless you can afford the additional costs, I would recommend sticking with the R2000 which since its introduction has been a bargin.
My only criticism is Epson should have made the head 9 channel, helping eliminate ink waste. Maybe they need to truly "think green".

Best Wireless Large Format Printer, Period!

The Epson R3000 hands down is the best wireless large format printer for home use hands down. I've owned this printer since it's release. My Photo Studio is upstairs and my office is located down stairs. Going wireless makes for easy work flow.
The print quality is truly photo gallery ready. I've never seen better B&W photos with more blacker blacks from any other printer. Print speed is very good for large prints and excellent for B&W prints.
My only gripe is sitting up print margins for photos larger than 8.5 x 11.5 could be much smoother.
This printer is a must for any Pro Photographer and advance Photographer who cares about their work.

Epson Stylus Photo R3000

My friend recommended this printer to me and it clearly surpassed my expectations. His printer is an earlier version of mine. Epson really stepped up the options on this model by adding more ink colors/blacks, larger variety of paper/media to print on including - Canvas, CD/DVD, etc. The colors in photos really pop out. Also this model includes the newer options like a mode for Black and White photos and Roll Paper up to 44 inches!
When I purchased this Printer I was able to get a $150 rebate too! You can't go wrong with this Model!

This is my 2nd R3000. The first one had gear problems. The printer carriage jammed. I don't know how it got past quality control. It was about seven months old and still under warranty. Epson exchanged it for another. It is easy to set up and a pleasure to print with. The colors are wonderful. The quality of the printer is great also. What is there to not like about Epson?

Great value on a pro printer

I've been printing my wife's art (greeting cards and fine art prints) for the past few years on the 1100 and then 7010 with decent results but with a lot of tweaking to get the color close. In some cases the gamut was too limited to get it right. After the 7010 went south I decided to step up to the R3000. They had great rebates on it and glowing reviews. The R3000 is everything they said it was. After I re-profiled my monitor and did my first test print the color was nearly perfect. I also realized all the color and subtle detail I had been missing! I now print art and photos for other artists and the results have been fabulous. Ink usage for prints has been reasonable but there is quite a bit used when switching blacks between photo and matte. Fortunately Epson and other retailers often have decent sales on ink (and paper). I tried to use 3rd party inks on the old printers but got widely varying results on color and they eventually ended up clogged beyond repair. I stick with Epson genuine now. I also decided to get an extended warranty because repairs can often exceed the entire price of the printer. Not such a big deal on low end printers but definitely worthwhile at this price point.
