INK!!!!

I just set up the printer and followed all instructions to teh T. It errored out on priming the ink and said it had to be powered off and back on to clear. This caused it to drain the brand new ink cartridges and there was only 1/3 of the ink left after set up. I will contact Epson to see if they will send me another set (but as we know good luck with that :-).) If this happens when I replace the cartridges I'll get rid of the printer!!! There will be no way to even print let alone be able to afford the ink at this rate. So very unhappy so far. This thing better print like no ones buissines or I will be very unhappy to have wasted my money!!!

If you are a fine artist who does their own prints on Epson Velvet Art Paper single sheets, DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!I have had this machine replaced & it still will not load paper from the front loader into the back loader for printing. Tonight , I have been trying for over an 2 hours to get ONE sheet loaded and all I get is errors of not loaded corrected. Talked to tech support when received my new one abt this problem who were no help so they sent me another machine and this one does the same thing. Now, I have to be in a patient mood and have lots of time to get a few prints if I am lucky. What a waste of money and time!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

disappointing startup instructions

This is a little unfair writing a review when I have only had the R3000 for 8 days, but the pictures in the instruction book do not look like what I see on my apple laptop when I try to print. Makes it very, very difficult.
Also, I happen to have some older kodak paper and there is no info on settings other then epson paper.
I have been able to do one print successfully, it took forever to print and used a whopping amount of the black ink. Looks like almost 20% went into one 8 x 10 print?
Changing the blacks is difficult and should be automatic
Sometimes I get a list of paper choices, sometimes not. WHY?
Should be easier.

I have been involved with photography since 1970 as a camera salesperson, photofinishing vendor and labworker and as an amateur photographer and occasional professional.
I had to change professions to eat but have been pricing and dreaming of a darkroom since 1974. Never had the room and never got around to it. I have continued photography as a hobby to this day and am extremely pleased with this my first photo printer. It has all of the quality output and control you could want. Beleive me if the last thing you worked with was an optical photo enlarger this thing is a dream.
I have 2 Epson scanners.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Setup very fast and efficient. In using Lightroom 3 and commanding the color to be "managed by the printer" prints are highly accurate relative to what
I see on my screen. This should be a very nice upgrade from my R1800. Using this product with a Mac Pro system and Adobe Lighroom 3. Now, about the price of that ink...

Disappointed !

I read all the reviews and talked with some professional photographers and decided to buy this model. I have been very disappointed. No where did it mention that this printer is extremely slow to print. I am printing fine art prints that I can only load one piece of paper manually at a time and it takes 1/2 hour to print 1 13 x 19 inch print. I would never have bought this printer if I had know these 2 facts.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
