My Epson Stylus Photo 2200 that I have had for over ten years, just bit the dust. I really hated to see it go and was leary that the next wide format printer might not be as good. Well, let me tell you, I just installed my Epson Stylus Photo R3000 today and have only printed a few photos....... WOW doesn't even cover it. What beautiful picture quality. I am very impressed. I can't wait to print more. It is a wonderful printer, easy to set up and get it up and running. Thank you Epson for all your wonderful products. Thanks again! Stormy 403

Epson Stylus Photo R3000 Inkjet Printer

Have used Epson printers throughout the years at my job and purchased one for home use which is the R3000 Inkjet Printer. So far the printing has been excellent and the photos come out very nicely.
Would like to use the printer for fine art photography and general commercial prints to clients.
This was an affordable printer which prints everything that is needed 90 percent of the time.
It is recommended to use only Epson Ink and that is very true to get the best results.

Ink Eater

I regret to have "upgraded" my printer from the R1900 to the R3000. With the R1900, I did not have to worry about the kind of black ink I was using, the printer took care of that without me noticing or having to do anything, the printer selected the black ink, photo or matt according to the media used. With the R3000 you get a message asking you if you want to change the ink, then after lot of noises and time, you will notice how the printer drinks the black ink before you print anything.
The software is not as good as in the R1900, it is more directed to non-thinking minds. Being the R3000 just below the pro line, the software should be more targeted for people with mind that enjoy the photographic experience from taking the photo to printing it.

Makes many marks on the stock. Random or they are in one specific spot. Cleaned and Cleaned and Cleaned it and still get them.
So far that is my only issue.

Great but...

Great precision and great prints. Wastes too much ink. The design, where ink jet nozzles share either the Photo Black or the Matt Black ink, seems unfortunate (rude and arrogant are words that come to mind). The unit needs to flush the line of the previous ink choice each time you switch between them. Lots of ink (and time) is consumed doing this.

R3000 - yes it prints canvas!!

One's first day with any new product is always a challenge in my experience. The first thing that impressed me is how well the printer is packaged, obviously designed to protect the printer during shipping - it counts for a lot in my mind.
Secondly, the quick start guide really helps one get started and i followed it religiously. I had hoped i'd get something printed the first day - and it actually happened. (I usually use sRGB and send my prints to a large box store for printing) Using the same settings, I was quite surprised that my very first 4x6 print looked exactly like the image on my laptop screen, and frankly looked better than what i've been getting out of the box store.
Thirdly, with the 4x6 success, i thought i would try a canvas print. I had bought a 13"x20' roll of Epson Glossy canvas, and surprisingly it came with the 2" center core, suitable for the 2" core of the R3000. One of the reviews i had read had dissed the R3000 roll accessory, saying that the prints are too curved to straighten out and it has a small core. So i had planned on cutting sheets from the canvas roll prior to feeding them into the machine.
Without any optimism, i put the canvas roll on the roll accessory and hooked them onto the back of the machine. Quite surprised how well it worked. Did a 12"x20" print (off the roll) that looked every bit as good as what i normally receive from the commercial canvas printer that i send my orders to. It had a little curvature after printing it, but overnight, that has largely disappeared and it won't be a problem after i staple it to the stretcher bars.
Suggestion to Epson: I would be more than willing to buy a 3" core roller accessory for my R3000 and think you guys ought to build it. Most canvas rolls use a 3" core rather than the 2" core that comes with the R3000 so the 3" core would help in terms of availability. I think Epson was thinking in terms of compactness, but to me thats a lesser concern than availability of canvas. (It has no immediate impact on me because the 2" core roll is available from some stores-but still, why not go with the industry standard?)
Thanks for building such a wonderful printer - its something i'm going to enjoy and use for a long time.

Where is the User Guide?
on November 3, 2011

I have only had this printer for a week or so and really like it. It is faster than my old 2880 and the print quality is fabulous. I love having both blacks in the carriage and don't mind waiting for it to switch when I change papers. BUT, why or why did Epson not include a User Guide, or at least have a User Guide available in pdf form?
