I can't use my old Nikon D5100 because of this camera. Image quality and device features are superb. The sensor is probably the best in this class. I especially like the USB charging, Bluetooth, and ability to touch focus. It makes the handling of older DSLR so tedious. All would be perfect if it had an EVF like the Sony A6000 but it's a trade off. Kit lens is better than the Sony offering. Now, I wish to upgrade to the successor of the NX1!! Please Samsung continue making great cameras.

Better Than My Old DSLR

I ditched my DSLR in exchange for the NX500. I wanted something that was lighter weight, plus it being 28mp was a plus. I didn't really use it, though, until recently...almost four months after I got it.
A friend was having a last minute wedding and needed somebody to take photos. I volunteered (helping a very sick friend). It was indoors with low light. I'm just a hobbyist photographer, so I didn't have any additional equipment. I don't like the harshness of using a flash without a diffuser and opted not to use it. Another friend, who was using the same DSLR model I used to own, was also taking photos.
When I got home and looked through my photos on my computer....and looked at the friend's photos (on Facebook), I was so glad I had made the switch. My photos were amazing! The color was so vivid (compared to the friend's photos)! I could not have been happier with how they turned out.
Now, the family has professional quality portraits that they will cherish after their daughter is gone (which could be any day now).
I was on the fence about which camera to take when I travel to Ireland in a couple of months...the NX500 or my little point and shoot. Now I know exactly which one I'll be taking!
Pros: Realistic color, Bright display, Lightweight, vivid colors in low light without flash

I bought the NX500 for it's small size, it's numerous features and WiFi connectability and I'm completely satisfied with the results thus far. I find that I'm exploring new grounds with the features that I now have available to me.... and I'm just getting started.
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color, Bright display, Durable, Lightweight, small size, built-in features
Cons: too many buttons

My dream camera

I searched high and low for a camera of the caliber. I looked and several different cameras before making a purchase but everytime I looked at a camera I was drawn back to the NX500.

Amazing mirrorless camera! Bang for your buck!

This camera is great! I used to own a EX2F and what I really miss is the zoom dial thats now replaced as an on and off dial. How I wish that the screen is like the swivel screen too because once you attached a flash, you wont be seeing yourself 100% in a selfie view and lastly the 4k video is cropped. Other than all that, this camera is great with all the compatible NX lenses.
I really love this beauty.
Pros: Realistic color, Bright display, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: no swivel screen, 4k video recording is cropped
