Poor vacuum

This product is supposed to do two things: vacuum and mop. It mops well (as does a much less expensive steam mop without the vacuum feature). It vacuums poorly, leaving lots of wet debris in its wake. The vacuum really only has one chance to work, as you're pushing the unit forward over a dry area of floor. When it fails to pick up debris, as it often does, trying to vacuum again over the area will be much less successful, as now you're trying to pick up wet debris. The point of buying this product in comparison to a steam mop is to eliminate the need to sweep or vacuum as a separate step before mopping. This product doesn't do that well at all. Other, minor complaints: (1) The only way to find our whether the water tank is empty is to stop periodically and bend over to look at it. The user guide says that you know the water supply is empty when the unit stops emitting steam, but during normal operation with the vacuum running, you can't hear whether the steamer has quit and you can't see that steam has stopped because the steam pad is wet, and so it will wet the floor whether steam is being emitted or not. (2) You have to press a trigger for the steamer to turn on, which is tiring. I used electrical tape to tape it in the triggered position.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So dissapointed

I cannot express to you how disappointed I am with this product. I was looking forward to having a steam mop and vacuum in one. I was in the market to replace a steam mop that I had been satisfied with but had run out of life, so when I saw this advertised at (Local large-chain store), it sounded so convincing. NOT happy at all. It is a struggle to push, and smears dust and dirt into the edges of the floor. I'd give anything to be able to trade it for just a vacuum OR steam mop. How do you return something that you've already used though. Stores don't let you. I feel like I just threw away my money, and that makes me very sad and angry.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Vacuum Steam Mop is great on my laminate floors. Used to use my navy mop and vacuum, separately. Now I can mop and vacuum in one operation. However, the Bissell Vacuum and Steam Mop only lasted about 2 1/4 years. This is my 3rd Steam Mop, in 5 years. The product is great for laminate or hard wood floors. The only problem is have is reliability. John Zemlock

cleaning floors is something I really have a hard time doing do to disability but the Symphony solved that problem. Very easy to operate and does a great job of vacuuming and mobing all in one. I couldn't ask for more. My floors are now easy to keep clean and sanitized I truly recommend this product to anyone that wants to easily keep their floors clean

Hi Karen, this model is a steam cleaner and vacuum in one. You're correct, it's not for vacuuming carpet.

I've had two Symphony vacuum and steam mops...the first one died after 4 days. Bissell sent me another one after a couple of emails reminding them of their promise to do so. The second one is still going after a month, however...the steam is mediocre, and I can't say much more for the vacuum power. I had high hopes for this combination machine, but I think more work needs to be done in making it more powerful.
