Only good thing about the Symphony is that it is light weight. If you don't mind a chord that your feet get tangled up in because it's not retractable, if you don't mind having to re vacuum spots after removing the pads because stuff falls off of them or gets caught in the bristles and if you don't mind that it won't pick up fine dirt, then buy it. Someone who never vacuums must have made the product,

Thank you for your review. We're sorry for your disappointment with the Symphony. We have some steps to help with the suction. Please make sure the Vac light is on. The filters must be clean for good suction. Make sure the dirt cup is on properly and the hoses. There shouldn't be any gaps where air can escape. If you remove the foot, check for any hair that may be causing a clog. Once you get your suction back, you will see how much cleaner your floor is after using your Symphony.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It gives me so much joy to have that time back, use a vacuum that actually sucks up crumbs from the cracks and crevices, all while steaming my floors. End result is sparkly clean in minutes :)
I would recommend this to a friend!

I couldn't handle the Shark steam mop I had any longer; it kept leaking and the water was so hot, I had to let it cool down before I could empty any extra water. It was heavy, difficult to move around on the floor, and did a poor job, even though I kept purchasing new parts. I finally gave up on it. Enter the Bissell Symphony! I have four very active cats and a very gritty litter that works wonders for odor, but it tracks and it's not easy to get it all with a broom. I also cook and bake a great deal, so the kitchen floor gets dirty quickly with dropped crumbs, grease when frying, sticky stuff, and spilled flour and sugar. I have a great landscaping wagon that I now use for trash and recycling, and the wheels bring in dirt from outside (and snow and salt in the winter). The vacuum on the Symphony picks it all up easily! Not only that, it picks up everything else on the floor I never even knew about (the floor is brown-slate vinyl)! It gets in the corners easily, too. There's nothing easier than to vacuum and steam mop at the same time; if it's too late to vacuum, I don't want to disturb my neighbors so I sweep with a broom and then steam mop (but the broom does NOT get it all so I usually vacuum it the next day, at a decent hour). I always use the scrub-type mop heads, and it really gets the floor clean. Just simple distilled water and steam and very little elbow grease. I just let the Symphony do its thing, and I go for the ride. I have osteoarthritis throughout my spine, as well as a pinched nerve in my back from two herniated discs and a transplanted femoral artery in my left leg, and the Symphony isn't taxing on any part of my back or legs at all. This really is literally effortless. There are times, though, when I change the mop head to the regular non-scrubbing mop head, just to make sure the floor is really clean. And I STILL pick up more dirt, but not a lot, so I know the floor is clean. I can just vacuum, just steam mop, or do both at the same time. The vacuum is a bit noisy, but once I've hit the floor once with the vacuum, I know it's clean, so I turn the vacuum off. This is one of the best purchases I have made. Combined with the Bissell Perfect Sweep Turbo for a quick carpet sweep, I know my apartment will always look its best. If you want to learn about the Deep Clean Premier Bissell carpet cleaner and vacuums (upright- and hand vacs), be sure to check out my reviews there. The Symphony is truly so easy to use. It slides easily; I don't have to push it hard like I used to with the Shark, the water stays hot, the steam goes where it's supposed to, it doesn't leak, the pads are thick and absorbent, and the machine is easy to clean up. Of course, I have to mention that the Symphony comes in my favorite color: ruby red!

I'm very disappointed with this product. I'll list the pros and cons of my experience... PROS: 1. Arrived quickly, within a week. 2. Easy assembly. The cloth was already in place so I didn't have to do much for the first use. I simply connected the top part of the unit to the floor tray. 3. Nice size water compartment so it seems I could potentially steam at least 2 rooms before having to fill up. 4. The cord is a nice length so I was able to use it without changing plugs in the kitchen and moving toward one of the bedrooms. CONS: 1. The first day I had the unit I wasn't able to use it because I couldn't get the the cover to the water compartment open. I actually asked 2 other ppl to help me because simply pressing the buttons on each side was not opening the unit, so I thought maybe I just didn't have enough strength in my hands. They couldn't get it open either. We didn't want to pull to hard and tear anything up. I finally had to press the buttons on the side in and use a butter knife at the top to push it open. 2. Steam doesn't appear to get very hot at all. After my other steamer passes a section of floor I can touch it and feel the warmth. With this unit, it's cold to the touch immediately after passing over a section. 3. The floor still takes minutes to dry instead of drying quickly from hot steam 4. The vacuum part doesn't seem to pick up very well by itself and is almost nonexistent when I press the steam button at the same time. 5. The steam cloth seems to get soaking wet very quickly and once this happens it appears to just push the dirt making it soggy and creating more of a mess to clean up. 6. After the above happens it seems like you're just pushing wet dirt and this starts to cause streaking on the floor. I have an off white tile in the kitchen, back of the house so this creates a bigger problem. 7. It may be just my own thoughts, but the machine is a lot louder than I thought it would be, pretty much on the same noise level as a regular vacuum. 8. The button to recline the handle and to remove the bottom plate can be easily confused causing you to remove it during cleaning. 9. The bottom plate is easily dislodged if you hit an uneven surface. I purchased and used the distilled water like the company suggests and followed the instructions for the first use, holding the steam button to prime to machine before using. So all in all, dissatisfaction is where I landed with this.

Thanks so much for your review and for all the great feedback about your experience using the Symphony. Sorry to hear that you struggled so much opening the water tank. To open it, put your fingers on both sides of the cap and push down and pull out. It will get easier to open the more it is used. The steam temperature at the nozzle is 194 degrees F. The Symphony will even sanitize when the steam is left on an area for 15 seconds. Make sure to use the highest setting for maximum steam, but keep in mind you won't see a lot of steam coming out from the machine because the steam is directed at the floor instead of out the sides. Depending on how often you are holding the steam trigger your pad could become saturated more quickly. You may even want to change out the pad it becomes too wet during cleaning. To ensure you're getting maximum suction with your Symphony, please check the filter regularly. Dirty filters will restrict airflow. It would also be good to check the hoses and floor nozzle for any clogs. The Symphony does work best on even surfaces. We hope these tips help you out.

The combo. of vacuum plus floor cleaner puts this floor cleaner at the head of the class. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats and live on a farm, so lots of heavy duty activity on 3,000 sq. ft. of tile. This unit does the job as advertised. The vacuum picks up dust, crumbs, dog and cat hair, eliminating the need for a separate vacuum or sweeping operation. The cleaning pads are super easy to remove and to replace. Nice job Bissell! Thank you for making my cleaning chores much easier.
