Poor Cooling Performance

Our refrigerator has not properly cooled since day 1. At first, we just thought it didn't feel as cool as it should be, so we slowly moved the setting down over a few weeks until it was eventually at the lowest setting of 34 degrees. Still unhappy with the cooling, we decided to install a bluetooth thermometer. It shows that it runs at an average of 40 degrees. We verified it with a second different bluetooth thermometer; same result, actual temp is around 40 degrees. WE then had a warranty visit and the service tech noticed it didn't feel very cool but his diagnostic tool said it was running great at 34 degrees. It wasn't, but he couldn't do anything since his tool told him it was fine. We later concluded that whatever sensor that tool relies on in the refrigerator must be defective. We've had numerous occurences of spikes to nearly 50 and one to 65 WITH THE DOOR CLOSED FOR HOURS. We need to schedule another service call but we are frustrated that the diagnostic tool will tell the tech it's fine again.

Failed out of the box

Pick another GE product, this one failed out of the box. Return/repair was cumbersome.

Just the right size

The counter-depth, French door refrigerator is the perfect size for our kitchen. The contents of the refrigerator section are all right at eye level. Nothing gets hidden in the back of the refrigerator. The LED lighting is clear, bright and fabulous! While the freezer section is on the small side, it has all the storage space that our two-person household requires.

After reviewing many units and the internal layouts we decided on this unit. Very pleased with the shelving layouts and options. Unit is very attractive and we are very pleased with the simplicity of the setup and operation and storage options. The only item we had to rethink was where to keep my wifes wine. Not enough height in the doors, where we are used to keeping it, unless you give up the slide down storage tray in the right door. Right now it is laid down on the shelf.

Initial problem but fine now

I bought this fridge in Oct 2014 and within a few weeks we found that things were freezing in the vegetable bins and on the shelves no matter what temperature we set it at. Called for service and they came out, plugged a computer terminal into the top of the fridge and said that we have a bad fan. The computer ordered the part and it arrived a few days after and the technician came and installed in about 10 minutes. Everything has been fine since.

What a headache!

We have had this appliance for less than 2 months and have already had 4 service calls. Now the fan has gone out and the refrig is registering 61 degrees and the freezer is registering -28 with no ability to make ice.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
