Temperature Display Does Not work.

The temperature display only shows the 'SET' temp rather than the 'ACTUAL'. There have been numerous comments about this on many retail websites, including this one. Most replies to questions about how to work the display include referring to page 10 of the manual. Page 10 of the manual says to push and hold either the refrigerator or freezer button for the actual temperature. This did nothing in the 2 units I've used, the first was returned as I figured it was a one off problem, the second does the exact same thing. The latest response to this question is to push both buttons together, but if you had read page 10 of the manual, you would know that pushing both completely turns off refrigeration in the unit.... Overall, I would not recommend this fridge. I don't doubt that this issue will snowball into something larger in the company's future.

This refrigerator does not show the active temperature. Instead, it will show the set temperature. Please know that we are working on updating our literature as quickly as possible.

The best way to measure the temperature is to place a bulb type or candy thermometer capable of reading below zero temperatures directly into a container of food or liquid that has been in the refrigerator or freezer compartment for at least twenty-four (24) hours. The bottom Fresh Food shelf or top of the vegetable pans is the preferred location for placing the thermometer. Beautiful Slate Refrigerator

I first shopped for the brand. Reviews of competitors customer service did not rate well, either slow to respond or offshore representatives. GE seemed to rate the best when it came to service. Even the best of appliances may one day need servicing so this was important to me.
I then selected this slate refrigerator. It's beautiful! Some choose slate because of no fingerprints, I chose it because it looks good. Fingerprints or no fingerprints I would buy slate over stainless steel. The stainless steel handles are perfect as they allow you to introduce stainless accessories into
your decorating. I have a small kitchen and all stainless would have been too overpowering.
I got a chance to test out customer service a couple of days of owning the refrigerator. It was really noisy, I mean really noisy. After all my research on this model I was so disappointed. There was this loud noise that would go off every hour for about 5 seconds waking me up at night. I called customer service to schedule a repair. The girl answered right away, I explained the noises I was hearing and told her the refrigerator should not be so loud as I had not even hooked up the ice maker. She asked me if the ice maker was turned on. I opened the refrigerator door and duh, the setting was turned on for ice maker. She said the noises were from the machine trying to make ice. I turned that off and now have the quiet refrigerator I was expecting. It cycles between a light humming nose and complete silence. No complaints there.
Overall extremely pleased, I purchased the full suite of appliances, so happy designers at GE came up with slate.

Perfect for us

We purchased this a month ago. It not only look great on the outside, but also on the inside. Already, we've noticed that our food lasts longer. We love the separate drawers for vegetables and fruit and the flexibility to modify the temperature to suit the contents. To conserve energy and because we like the looks, we opted to NOT have though the door dispenser this time, and find the interior water and ice access to be easy and effective.

Very Sleek & Great Space Efficiency

After 2 months, we couldn't be happier with this purchase. This unit is sleek looking and has lots of space for a counter depth appliance. I think we gained space in the refrigerator section by opting for a unit without through the door water and ice. In my opinion, it looks cleaner too. The water dispenser inside the left door is great (convenience and taste) and everyone in my family is using it. Our bottled water consumption has dropped significantly. The ice maker produces plenty of ice for us and is easy to reach. The LED lighting is very nice and bright. Even the freezer has a light and it's easy to see there. The noise level is acceptable. I think this unit is pretty quite overall. I'm really glad we went with the counter depth. The larger volume units would have stuck out too far in my application. Hope this helps you.

Very happy!

We just purchased our GE Profile counter-depth after our 3 year old Samsung died (the refrigerant leaked out and it was unrepairable). By choosing a model without an external door dispenser, we gained a lot of interior space since the shelves are unobstructed by an ice/water unit or filters. We are also saving ourselves from the seemingly constant job of cleaning water drips from an external dispenser. The GE's bins are nice and deep, and it's very easy to access everything in the fridge. My only (minor) complaint is that the water dispenser inside the fridge is just a little awkward. The dispenser is a two-handed job -- you have to hold your glass with one hand and and push the water button with the other. Overall the fridge is nice and quiet and we are happy with our purchase.

Noisy.

This is a terrible refrigerator. It freezes in the refrigerator section and is so noisy I can hear it all the way on the other side of my house. I have had it for 2 months and it is only getting worse. I will be calling GE.

WORST APPLIANCE EVER PURCHASED!

Refrigerator was delivered 3/16/2015. It has been serviced 5 times...
4/13/15, 4/24/15, 5/8/15, 6/16/15 and 7/14/15.
ENOUGH ALREADY! Replaced the same fan each time. Just waiting for it to break again.
