I love all the lighting, making everything visable. I also like the small pull-down shelf under the butter keeper for stick butter.

I really do love this refrigerator/freezer, however the doors are hard to close and when I open the freezer the top shelf comes out with it:(

Great Fridge with Lousy Handles
on April 4, 2021

We’d gone through a couple of cheaper fridges that just didn’t hold up, so we’ve been very happy with the quiet efficiency of this fridge. Also, the interior is very well designed and the chillers have held up great. All of which makes me wonder what happened when it came to the handles? Our freezer handle was fine for a while, but now repeatedly pops off. We retighten the set screws and it’s okay for a couple of weeks or so, then it comes off again. Some study confirms bad design as the issue. The mounting stud is chamfered, and so is the set screw that tightens against it. This handle receives significant upward torque on opening and downward torque on closing. This rocks the set screw in the chamfer of the stud, providing alternating forces on the screw, which then works loose. Loctite didn’t help much. A tapped hole and a longer set screw would be much more secure. But if you don’t have a home machine shop, you’re in for an annoying job on a regular basis.

It would be five stars if it was not so noisy

I knew people reported the refrigerator being noisy and it truly is. Not all the time but when the compressor needs to run and it seems like it needs to run 20-30 minutes out of every hour. I can hear it from far away and is pretty annoying. I am hoping GE comes up with some replacement part that improves the noise levels but it might be years from now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
