GE products not what they used to be

one of the main reasons for purchasing this was the ability to set the fridge down to 34, which is where we like it and our other fridge allows to so. GE recommends setting at 37, so even though the temp setting allows you to select 34, with 2 thermometers to verify, the coldest it goes is 37 and then it doesnt hold at temp very well, it ranges from 37-40 without being open very often, very disappointed. The freezer wont go any colder than 12 above, even though the setting is 0
The drawers are cheaply made and dont slide well at all, the door alarm is useless unless you leave the door all the way open, it does not go off if the doors are partially open by something blocking them. Not much help
Ge products used to be more reliable than this, but obviously things have changed, would not recommend at all anymore

Cleaning the shelves

I have recently discovered a shelf that had something leak through and go into and around the metal pieces that hold the glass. No problem, I will just take it apart and clean. NO NO NO! Nothing comes apart. It is now soaking in the sink with warm water and dawn------for the last hour & NO IT ISN'T COMING CLEAN. Went on the web page to look up in the owners manual how to clean this up. NOTHING. I guess other families don't spill juice, milk, etc. Just mine. I AM NOT HAPPY. Before I discovered this, I would of had to say I loved my new frig/freezer. Now I wish I had my old frig back that had all parts removable, cleanable, with ice trays in the freezer. The genius that came up with this, doesn't have a family or has a maid. Jean

Roomy for counter-depth

I really like the roominess of this counter-depth fridge. However a large pizza box will not fit. The water dispenser is good. I like the veg/fruit drawers and meat drawer. However it seems you have to pull from the exact center of the wide meat drawer for it to come out smoothly. I really like the lighting. Freezer holds a lot.

The compressor broke and had to be replace within 4 months and it is not the same compressor. It had to be adapted and is humming and noisier than the original one and GE does not seem to care

Great After One Month -

Love the overall exterior look of this refrigerator and the fingerprint resistant stainless finish is outstanding. Plenty of interior space for two adults...not so sure if we were a family of four. The LED lighting is terrific and door compartments & shelving provide you with a lot of options. With past refrigerators we're had problems with ice dispensers on the door; and trying to clean and sanitize an outside water dispenser was near impossible. However, the inside water dispenser on this refrig is nothing to write home about. Its ok to dispense a single glass of water, but it's not convenient if you are filling large containers. Conversely, the water line does not freeze up like older GE Profilers. Yes, the freezer door makes for a fit tight and consequentially, it's difficult to open. We place both hands near the middle of the freezer handle and steadily pull back (without jerking), it's easier on us and on the handle joints.

We really like the extra drawers with temperature settings in the fridge. After barely a month of use, our handle came off for the freezer door. Not sure if that was a faulty handle or what, but we were disappointed to have an issue that quickly. Especially since the product had a high price tag. The fridge can get pretty cold especially in the back as we had a pop get frozen.
