Capacity 20 is a little deceiving

We remodeled our home and bought GE refrig, range, microwave. The gloss black finish on the 3 products looks good and everything matches. However, the way this top freezer refigerator is designed actually reduces the shelf area cubic feet. The main reason for this is the relatively large freezer 5.78 cf and the large fresh food crispers 14.18.cf The shelf area 21.36 cf is hard to arrange the shelves to store the food. It comes with one fixed shelf and one split shelf. It is dificult to store a pitcher or a gallon jug on the shelves because of this design. The unit does have gallon storage on the door. By moving the shelves around to store large containers you will actually lose cf. If the freezer and crispers were smaller and if there were 2 split shelves it might be a better design??? We really do not need this large freezer or the large crispers that tapper in on the backside. That is perhaps why the crispers are so large. The 18.1 cf might have been better for us but it comes in textured finishes only. So, we will have to rethink and adjust our food storage to make it work for us.
Overall it is a nice refrigerator.. I would recommend this unit depending on your requirements for freezer, fresh food and shelf storage considerations.

don't like the upfront controls. Keep hitting them. Also cover on light will fall off if you touch it and very hard to put back on. If I put milk containers on door it slams shut because of weight. If I adjust shelve to put them there then I have less space.
Sorry I bought this. Only picked this one as it was one that would fit slot it had to fit in

Temperature Fluctuates

This refrigerator has been nothing but an ongoing problem and a huge disappointment. There is only one control for the refrigerator and freezer combined. When you get the freezer cold enough the refrigerator freezes, if you adjust the control to warm up the refrigerator the freezer gets too warm and won't make ice or keep things frozen. The temperature control is so sensitive you barely touch it and it fluctuates from one extreme to the other. We have had repairmen service the unit over 5 times and are now requesting a replacement of a different model.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
