Great product, terrible longevity.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My review would have been 5 stars had this device had some longevity. unfortunately, its got a lifespan of 2 to 3 years.
as far as counter space goes, I have a small kitchen. not a lot of room for appliances such as a microwave. Most are rectangular and take up quite a bit of space. even, under the cabinet mounted ones eat up quite a bit of room. many years ago, we found this model online and it was a great purchase. the size is perfect for an 11-inch plate and most items. the best part of the product design has to be its curved back... We have this microwave placed in a corner on the countertop next to the refrigerator. pushed back into the corner it leaves a lot of room on the counter than would have been available with a conventionally designed microwave. kudos...
THE BAD. The last two models of this device I've owned started to fail with the magnetron making a lot of noise and sparking. Both had to be replaced within 3 years. The first model lasted 5+ years. I purchased this model's additional 3-year extended warranty because I know I'll need it. honestly, Whirlpool should just increase the price of the item to equal the cost of the 3-year warranty and then just make that the manufacturer's warranty. Either way. this is not a buy-it-for-life product .. it's not even a buy it for a half-decade product. if you could figure out how to resolve the design issues cauing them to fail. this would be another great product in a very respected marquee.

Beware: microwave catches fire

I experienced a dangerous incident with this Whirlpool microwave. While heating a bowl of soup, I observed sparking along the interior walls of the microwave. These sparks then erupted into flames that spread across the inside of the unit. This occurred during normal use with a standard microwave-safe bowl.
The incident could have resulted in serious damage or injury if not caught immediately. I strongly advise prospective buyers to consider other options for their safety. The product appears to have serious safety issues that make it unsuitable for use in any kitchen.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love the Shape & Function

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a very small microwave because I have extremely limited counter space. This microwave fit the bill, was fully functional and a quality appliance. It cost three times more than a regular countertop microwave but I’m very happy with it.

Smallest Microwave On The Market

I just need a simple microwave that takes up as little space as possible. This fits the bill. It's the only 0.5 cu ft microwave I'm able to find. Every other microwave is huge by comparison. Very simple features but I don't care about that.

Perfect for me

No frills but it does the job perfectly and works well in corners to save space while fitting a dinner plate. Heats surprisingly quickly for smaller wattage. It's lasted longer than the last two other manufacturer's units i had, and it's still going strong. I'm delighted with mine.

Fits in the corner of a small kitchen

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is our third one of these. It works great for a lower power microwave, but we really only use it for reheating items. The rounded back allows it to fit in the corner on our kitchen counter, as we have no room for a larger microwave in our very small kitchen. Sometimes I think appliance manufacturers tend to forget that not everyone has large homes and kitchens:) We are very happy with our purchase!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This simple and small up to date microwave is perfect for a small kitchen! This microwave can fit in the smallest area of a kitchen countertop or on top of the refrigerator! You can do everything that a large microwave can do!
For a retired couple , a single person living in a studio or a newly married couple in a small apartment this is great!
This fits well also in a tiny house or garage unit work area also!
This microwave can really work anywhere you can think of . It’s the perfection of tiny but great engineering of thinking out of the box to help everyone that don’t have a large kitchen/living area!
