Tremendous little Microwave!

I bought this microwave for several reasons, the most important being that, because of its round back, it would fit in the corner of my countertop. Yes, I paid more for it than others this size, but I regained a couple of square feet of counter space, space that is pretty nice to have on holidays when the entire clan is here! No other company makes a microwave in this configuration. It cooks as well as the 1,500 watt unit it replaced and the controls are intuitive. A large dinner plate fits the turntable. This was an important issue as well. Of course, "brand" is important. I trust two appliance manufacturers, and Whirlpool is one of them. I could not be happier with this little microwave.
I would recommend this to a friend!

White cord on a black microwave?

BEWARE!!! I had this microwave before in the silver/stainless color and knew it would be a good addition to my appliance line up. The microwave itself functions well. HOWEVER, I purchased this microwave in the color black to go with my kitchen decor. They don't show a picture of the back of the unit so I was unaware that this appliance came with a WHITE cord. The cord is short which is fine, BUT that means there is no way it can be hidden. The color contrast sticks out like a sore thumb. Who designed this? It is absolutely horrible as the combination does NOT look good together. This is unacceptable for the price as this microwave is expensive and was made to look very cheap.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great space save, but buttons don't wear well

I bought this two years ago. Great space saving design.I've never needed to microwave anything that's too big to fit in it.Less powerful than others (heats slower) but that trade off is worth it to me for the space savings and good design.Beeping sound is a less pleasant than it could be.The button design is pretty good - I don't miss having a dial or number pad to set the cooking time.Biggest problem is that the plastic covering the buttons is wearing off - which makes it look pretty bad. I've not particularly rough with it, and not a very frequent user, so this is definitely a design or manufacturing flaw.

Wait till you need to replace the lightbulb, then review it

I bought this microwave in 2011 and it still works, for that, I am grateful. But the lightbulb went out shortly after I bought it. The users manual shows the "location" of the lightbulb. No mention of a replacement bulb part number or how one might go about installing it. Online help says if no light, replace the lightbulb. There is no access to it other than removing the housing with a special screwdriver that most people do not have in their home. My next microwave will be one that doesn't require an appliance dealer to replace the bulb. Yes, I recommend this microwave to a friend who doesn't mind cooking in the dark.

Perfect for my space

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced a hulking old micro with this one when I moved to an apartment from a house. It works well, is just the right size for corner placement and even looks kind of cute. Power is definitely adequate (it’s even more efficient than the old micro at tasks like reheating leftovers or coffee). Buttons are intuitive. Tip: Place one hand on top to steady the micro while opening the door to keep it from shifting.
