We bought this product for our daughter last November instead of buying an iPod. She loves this device. We didn't want her to have a smartphone, so this was a great option.

This product is about the best on the market for any consumer.If I broke it,I would buy again because of it ease of use and display.

This was recommended as a small tablet to replace some obsolete systems I use at work. Unfortunately, Google calendar app won't work with it. The battery runs down within a few hours of use, even with sound and wi-fi turned off.
Pros: Durable, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, not compatible with all android apps., battery life

I am very happy with the Galaxy 5.0 Player, it fills the need for a handy e-reader, media player and internet access device for me.
The only improvement I would like is a higher resolution screen, that said the 5.0 does well with it's 800X480.

Happy with the product

Generally, I'm happy with the Samsung 5. I received it as a Christmas gift. It took a while to get the wi-fi to work but now that it does I'm happy. It does suck battery life so I won't use it as much as I thought I might. I did turn off things to make the battery life longer and it seems to work. I like the sound quality and the fact that I can put both mp3s and waves on the mini sd card. I do wish I could download apps from the Web site and put them on the device instead of having to use wi-fi and download them. I installed Kies and except for the fact that I can back up material on to my computer I don't see myself using it much since I can't really do much with it. There is (and according to answers posted here there won't be) no upgrade to ICS or Jelly Bean and the device can't upgrade with Kies anyway so it's rather useless. I'll keep the software on my computer for a while to see if it's worthwhile.
I do like the camera and the video. I used both tools on Christmas day and was very happy with the quality.

No update to the lates Android Jellybean 4.2 available

it works on android gingerbread. But most of the new apps are compatible only with android jellybean. No information from Samsung whether it is possible to upgrade to jellybean.
