I am a beginner, yet have found this camera incredibly easy to operate. Already I am taking all kinds of pictures and am quickly learning how to use all the different features--everything is explained. And it's so compact and lightweight that I can carry it everywhere and spontaneously capture an image in a moments 'flash'. The zoom really zooms, and some of the close-ups ('some' because I, myself, am not as accurate as the camera) are amazingly detailed. The experience of using this camera is so much better than using a phone camera. I tried out other camera brands and chose this Sony. I'm so glad I did!

Not 20 Megapixel Images

Over the course of four years I've been through two of these. Oddly, the first one lasted much longer before succumbing to the Utah dust. Although image quality never equaled my partner's iPhone, My Little Sony was smaller and cheaper.
When the first one gave out research disclosed it was STILL the best choice for the money. But I was disappointed when it pooped out after only six months. Same issue: the lens had increasing problems while focusing and retracting (at shutdown) and eventually just stopped.
The zoom is amazing and the video is pretty good too. But given the increased susceptibility to dust of the newer model, I can't recommend it, unless, of course, you're somewhere where there's no dust. Two stars for good intentions.

W830 Camera

Meh. It takes decent photos, nothing spectacular. Biggest complaint is short battery life. I mainly take photos when I'm traveling abroad. This means I'm out sightseeing for ~6 hours at a time and this camera just doesn't cut it. My old Fuji Finepix handles this time frame with aplomb. Pros: it's light, most of the presets work just fine, quick power up, controls are intuitive. Cons: battery life is short, power on button can be hard to find sometimes, photo quality is just OK, colors seem washed out.

I'm still in love wit my panoramic camera!!!!!

It took me a while to figure out how to shoot panoramic photos. But once I did, no one could stop me. I took some of the most beautiful scenic shots ever....all up in Canada, some on the water, and some just of the mountains. Best to have a friend who is familiar with shooting panoramic to get some start-up tutoring!! But that's just me. At 71 years young, I think I am doing just fine as a photographer, albeit novice, but everyone seems to like my photos!!!

Great Camera

Right after we purchased the camera we went to France & Great Britain for four weeks. We took over 1,100 pictures during our trip. A lot were taken indoors and we could not use the flash. We got excellent indoor shots without using the flash almost every time. We like the size of the camera as it is easy to carry and use. Our only drawback is this is our first camera without a eye piece for taking a picture. We are still trying to get use to using the screen when taking pictures. Sometime the sun makes it impossible to see the shot you are taking on the screen. Other than that we are happy with the camera.
