UNFORTUNATELY, DISSAPOINTED

I was very excited when I first got this camera. I set it up right away, took some pics around the house and out at the park to test it out. Seemed to work fine. Couldn't wait to use it on our summer vacation, which was actually why we'd bought it for in the first place. But, when the moment of truth came it was definately not what I expected. Doesn't capture movement any better. Although, it does capture nice pics when you're out in broad daylight. Nonetheless, at someplaces, like at the aquarium the pics came out dark (eventhough the flash was on) and also, very out of focus. I felt it let me down, I was unable to take good-looking pics of the shark tank...that was a real bummer. Another thing about the camera is that when I'm looking at the pics I've taken this message appears on a blue screen "cannot display file" for some pics. Eventhough when I hook it up to the computer all the pics are in fact in the card. I also have to say that I used to have another model of a sony camera and it had a lot of the same issues. I went ahead with Sony once again because I liked to believe it's a brand I could trust. It's all very dissappointing

I have another Sony Cyber-shot and love it, but I wanted something I was less concerned about damaging so I could get quick pictures of my kids. However, this camera is awful. It takes longer to focus and to process pictures than my phone, so it completely defeats the purpose of having an actual camera. Taking pictures of children, almost every pictures comes out blurry or misses the moment. I thought with technology today a real camera, even a cheap one, would be better than that. At this point, I am frustrated and going to have to try and sell (or more likely, give away) this product and get a better one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great camera, Reasonable Price

Picked up this camera when we accidently left our primary camera at home. Camera has proven to take great pictures and videos. Compact size is a plus - easy to carry in the supplied carrying case. Light weight and buttons are easy to press (even with my big fingers!). Battery life is long (we bought a spare battery but never have had to use it). The battery charging time was short. Wish the USB cord (for charging or pic transfer) was longer. The online manual is ok but would have been nice to have a printed one when we first got it as a quick reference; however, the camera's controls and on-screen menu are fairly intuitive and the learning curve was short. The included 8 gig memory card had plenty of space for all our pics. Wanted a black case but store only had silver - no big deal. My only issue is with the Sony online photo/video editing software. Not very user friendly or intuitive but I'm using other software until I figure it out.

so smart this little camera ! i do love using it, there are tons of action's i still have not used, im kinda stuck on "easy shot" the camera does all the work for you ! i also live the video part, easy to read, the only thing im not crazy about is the very very short cord from your computer to the camera to up load...its way short..thats why i gave 4 stars, i would even purchase one, but had no luck on doing so...

I purchased this camera because it was very compact, yet had an excellent Zeiss lense and 20.1 mp. I like to have a pocket camera handy while traveling to catch photos when my Nikon DSLR is not at hand. The quality of the Sony images is almost as good as my 5 year old Nikons. When I dropped and damaged my DSLR on a trip. I was glad to have this one to capture photos for the rest of the cruise

It's been a long time since I purchased a Sony product and thinking about a new handy camera one day in a store I came across a whole display of cameras. Having given them a quick once over, I came back to this little beauty. The pictures it takes are so incredibly detailed, some of the best photos ever, and I have been using this for business also. The photos I have been posting from field assignments have been rewarded with some very pleasant comments, and compliments. Yes I am very pleased with this product, money well spent!

The button to press for taking a photo is very difficult to use. I can't tell when it is half depressed to get the focus. Many vacation pics were out of focus because of the recess button. I still have the camera but bought new Sony with elevated button. I would never buy this camera again until Sony resolves this issue.

The picture quality is good but the camera is not looking good as shown in online image. completely plastic body with worst quality. DSC 730 is much better thanDSC830.
