Good Camera for Beginners

Does not take very good low lighting pictures. Have not used it enough to be able to rate overall picture quality, but could use more photo mode selections.

A nice camera that could have been better.

This is a nice camera but for older people with poor hand control a larger, easier to hold version would have been better. Everything in the electronics field seems to want to get smaller but there are some things that are easier to use with a bit of weight and size. Also disappointed in the lack of detailed instructions which would have made it easier to use. My older version of this camera was easy to use and came with a helpful instruction book.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased this camera over a year ago. I have found this camera to be dependable, easy to carry and easy to use. It does not discharge the battery quickly unless I take a lot of flash shots in sequence. The pictures are great. This camera focuses quickly. With a larger memory card than that which comes with it, the memory capacity is more than adequate.

Sony W830 camera - two disasters

I loved my first Sony W830 camera - got great pictures and loved the ease of taking pictures. When the screen on the back fried - quit working - in the middle of a cruise, I figured it was a one-time incident. I bought a second one. That one lasted 14 months and the screen zapped again - in middle of shooting the Komodo Dragons!! Guess the camera has a defect. Will explore other cameras - not going to chance missing pictures from another cruise.
