I bought this camera for taking pictures of my mountain bike rides. Love the compact size and it's very light weight. Bought a belt loop caring case. Just like your phone you can't tell it's there. The 20.1 megapixel has great resolution and definition for your portraits or landscapes. The 8X zoom lets you really scope in on something that would otherwise be lost in a regular photo. This camera is also great at stopping a moving target. When using the timer you can hear the seconds beep off one by one so you can get the pose just right before the camera snaps the picture. In movie mode you have a nice still frame and good audio. I am glad I bought the sony instead of one of the cheaper brands. This camera is going on every ride from here on out.
I would recommend this to a friend!

While the picture quality is outstanding,have had to manually change the ISO setting to get less blur in my average shot.
In the future would like to see more tip and tricks in the box,(more hints),
besides the one page,folding manual.
There is really good info. on the Web for this Camera,but it is a hunt
to find it.
I am still experimenting, but am very pleased with my purchase....

Great Video and Stills for a reasonable price

I purchased this when an earlier version got wet and became unusable. Lesson is: don't get anything wet!
The new camera does everything except transport images via Wifi which is really not a requirement in my case. Great images--great videos. I used one of the 20Meg images and ordered a large scale canvas print. Came out beautiful! This is a great investment, especially given the quality of sound that accompanies the videos.

great pics, slow review time

This thing is tiny. Like stealth tiny, but it takes great pics. Adjusts automatically based on the environment, which is helpful, but sometimes I'd like to control that, in case there's an effect I'm going for... My major complaint is how long it takes to load pictures after the review button is pressed. It is at least 15 seconds. So slow and annoying!! Other than that it's a marked improvement over my prior camera!

Photos taken in low light, WITHOUT a flash, are not are sharp.
The 8x optical is GREAT.
Full sun outside photos are very crisp.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is the third DSC-W830 we have purchased. It is easy to use, and takes great photos. The only reason we have to keep purchasing the same camera, is they do not hold up well to being dropped. I would say gravity is the only drawback to this camera.

Should of bought a Sony camera before instead of a nikon with a plastic case and battery door which the plastic latches broke off. This camera is made of metal and will last.

Love everything about this camera but the battery door. My last one broke first day (battery lock) So I'm more cautious with this one. That's Reason for only four stars. Battery door and lock are flimsy
