Great printer and cheep price too. I started buying Epson printers way back in the day when AAPL was at 6 bucks. Epson has always had good Mac support unlike some other manufactures. This printer is for the price is the best yet. Like a Mac- It just works. Not much fuss, simple cartridges, no additional print heads to replace. Test patterns take very little ink to run. The menu buttons are more logically arranged than 300 series. Fax, scan, print & copy does it all.
I've bought other brand printers in the past but they always fell short.
I like other epson printers much better than the workforce 545. My biggest complaint is that in the middle of a print job, the ink will run out without warning and the sheet of photo paper is wasted. With other printers, a page would not partially print if ink was too low to print the whole page. A big waste of ink and paper and very frustrating. Print quality and speed are both good. Ink is very expensive.
The paper tray was cheaply made and if you didn't check the paper each time you wanted to print to make sure it was exactly straight in the tray the paper would skew. I also had problems when trying to print cards, that I would get white lines on the page throughout the colors. I've tried adjusting the page thickness in the software, I used original Epson ink, I tried cleaning the printheads and alignment and nothing fixed the problem. I lost this printer when my home along with 108 other homes in a condominium complex burnt to the ground. I won't be replacing it with another Epson.
The Epson WorkForce 545 has been a really good tool at my disposal. As a writer, I am quite dependent on a printer/scanner. As someone "technically challenged", I have found it to be easy to use. When I have run into a problem,Customer Service has been very helpful.
The workforce 545 gives you the most bang for the buck. Network setup is simple and works great. The auto document feeder even feeds without jamming. There's a surprise. I leave my printer on all the time, in case I receive a fax. But I never do. Print quality is good. I haven't figured out how to print on different media yet. Like envelopes and post card size paper. But i'm sure it will work fine. I've had my workforce 545 for about 6 months now and haven't had any problems with it. I can even print to it from my tablet computer. I think the workforce 545 was the right choice for me.
After having this printer for several months I have to say I love it. I even bought one for my mom for her 70th birthday. She loves hers. So convenient to print from your PC or phone or scan in something. You can convert stuff to different formats easily. The setup instructions were so easy to follow. The interface is just as easy when using it for various needs. If you're in to quality vs. enconomy then this is the product for your printing needs. It's actually very good on the economy side too though. Thank you. Aaron
