Great on plain & photo paper - not envelopes, etc.

The WorkForce 545 is excellent, as far as it goes. Print quality for text documents and photos is superb. And even fresh out of the printer, the DURABrite ink is almost impervious to smears and smudges. After 30 minutes, it doesn't smear under a highlighter (with a light touch).
Wireless connectivity is very robust. I set it up a year ago, so the details are hazy. But I don't recall tearing my hair out, or even having to call Epson tech support. I'm on a Mac so, of course, setting up peripherals is usually a breeze compared to Windows. (I have professional computer engineering integration experience with Windows.)
Wireless scanning works perfectly - on the glass or via the automatic document feeder (ADF). Although you cannot scan legal size on the glass, you can with the ADF. Single-page or multi-page, no problem. The Epson Scan utility is very intuitive, with lots of options.
However...
The WorkForce 545 only feeds from its horizontal, bottom-front paper tray. So paper and envelopes have to perform a 180-degree curl to pass under the print heads.
Consequently, printing envelopes with the WorkForce 545 is cumbersome and dicey: You have to pull out the paper tray, empty it, put the envelopes in, align two tray guides, and re-insert the tray. And you have to put just enough envelopes in the tray - not too many, not too few. Then it takes at least 2 or 3 tries before an envelope feeds and prints correctly, and it usually has some ink smudges on it anyway.
I tried printing business cards on Avery 8873 sheets - 8.5" x 11" with "clean-edge" snap perforations. Trying to make that 180-degree curl snapped those perforations and jammed the WorkForce 545 every time.
I had thought the horizontal, bottom-front paper tray would be an advantage. Unfortunately, it's a major disadvantage.
My old WorkForce 600 had a vertical, upper-rear paper bin, with more of a "gravity-assisted" feed. Paper, envelopes, perforated business-card stock, etc., only have to make a curl of about 70 degrees. For envelopes and card stock, just a little light fingertip pressure easily helped them feed and print properly. But you can't apply that pressure inside the WorkForce 545's tray.
Fortunately, I haven't gotten around to disposing of my WorkForce 600 yet. The magenta print head went bad after only 3 years. I'm sure that was partly my fault - sometimes I didn't print anything for weeks. But I've also heard that Epson print heads are more prone to clogging than other brands of inkjet printers - maybe due to the DURABrite ink's formulation, or the MicroPiezo print heads, or a combination of both.
So I've ordered a third-party head cleaning kit. Maybe I can bring the WorkForce 600 back to life. If not, I'll probably be looking at the Epson WorkForce WF-2530. It has the vertical, upper-rear paper bin. And I'll print a nozzle check every day. I promise.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fair Weather Printer

The printer originally set up and worked great for me. Absolutely no complaints.
If the environment where I use the WorkForce 545 had stayed the same, this would be an all positive endorsement. Another person in my office suite added a different Epson WorkForce printer to our WiFi network, and that's when the problems began.
Basically, the printer will no longer respond through WiFi. We have had both our techs and talked to people from Epson.
Finally gave up on WiFI and bought a USB cable instead, which works, sort of. Scanner is more problematic through cable.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I like the 545 printer a lot, I use it for a lot of different things, printing pictures. The people that see the pictures cant believe I really printed them off of my machine. They look that good.
I also enlarge and decrease a lot of music materials I need, as well as Bible materials I need for my Bible study group. It does a fabulous job at all it does, I would get another if it came to it.

Love the printer! Did everything I wanted until the paper started jamming and "spitting out" paper that wasn't printed on. Checked my settings and everything else which was good. Getting frustrated with waste and time.

epsons workforce 545 printer is a great deal the copy function makes copies fo your documents as fast as you can say Johnny appleseed and as for the other featurs they all work great am very satisfied with my printer especially the wifi i can now print from anywhere in and around the yard

I love my workforce and use it for my assignments, I am a college student.Scan and print photos of my grandchildren and other family members,as well as small business needs. This all in one keeps up with my busy life. I would suggest this product for anyone who values dependability,and the EPSON company was quick to stand behind their product when I had a problem.
