Been using the WorkForce 545 for a few months now and I love it. I can usually print in low quality setting and still get a great looking document. Of course, I use the high quality setting for critical stuff. I also like the speed. Very fast printing in any setting. I replaced an aging R220 and I am so glad I decided to get the WorkForce 545. Great Machine! Great Price!
Need to stress how important it is to ONLY use EPSON ink, rather than some third-party, budget ink that promises to be "compatible". I had to replace my Epson 525 Workforce with this 545 model because I ruined a very good previous Epson printer that way. I stuck with Epson and really LOVE this 545 even better than my first one. Very simple to set-up, really quiet operation, many features that are essential for a home office, ease of use, and relative small footprint and industrial design/appearance. Will be sure to use only Epson Branded Ink on this machine because Epson still has best value and quality and lastly, like that it can use the extra high capacity 127 inks as well.
Setup couldn't be easier using Mac with 10.7.x OS. Connect, run software update, and the Epson is good to go. I run it as shared printer hooked up to my Airport Extreme.
Operation. Easy and quick to learn the functions. Print quality is good.
Would have preferred a rear insert for envelopes and special paper, but that's my fault - I didn't read the specifications carefully enough.
My only concern so far is that the ink use seems very high. After printing maybe < 100 pages, the ink is almost depleted. As with most inkjet printers, the ink is incredibly expensive so I'll be looking for alternative sources.
We bought this printer to use for all our printing of business and personal papers, especially black & white on standard bond, and we were also looking for fax and copying capabilities. We have found all we needed and more in this great little printer/fax/copier/scanner. It is fast, efficient, very easy to use and the ink cartridge is lasting a long time - much better than the printer I use for color reproductions and photographic prints, saving us money on everyday printing. We reserve our high end printer for our high end work. The color printing on this printer is respectable also, and fast! It spits out color or B&W prints "in the blink of an eye." We really like being able to choose between color and b&w copies, and the large paper tray means not having to constantly worry about refilling the tray and running out of paper in the middle of a project. Switching between printing, faxing & copying functions is a breeze & the printer takes up very little room on the desktop. Being able to use the auto paper feed or lay the item to be copied down and scanned in on the scanner bed is a handy option when one has crinkled papers that might cause a paper jam - now a hassle easily avoided. We highly recommend this printer for one's everyday printing, faxing, & scanning/copying needs.
"Start Here" was simple to follow. The CD included easy to follow wizard applications of LCTM Client, ABBYY Screenshot Reader, Email and Cloud print. The printouts were clean and precise. Beautiful true-to-color photos-- weren't wet to the touch immediately coming out on tray!
The Good: The printer itself is great. Good printing quality, relatively easy set up. We connect through our WiFi network, and printing is fine. Have no need for the fax, but seems to work well.
The Bad: Scanning wirelessly (one of the main reasons I purchased this AIO) is virtually impossible at anything other than the lowest resolution. Constant error messages, and timing out at even passable resolution makes scanning impractical to say the least.
The Ugly: The few things I have been able to scan look HORRIBLE due to the low resolution.
I probably wouldn't have bought it if I knew what I know now.
I just bought this printer and thought I would have a problem setting it up so I call the techs when I wasn't sure. They were very helpful and patient walk me thru the steps and when I screwed up they didn't have a problem just laughed with me and got me back to where I was. and now both my desktop and laptop are connected and I can print again.. YEAHHH. thanks guys
