So far, so good

The EPSON 845, including the wireless setup, was easy to setup. The print quality seems great. I also like the touchscreen panel. It seems clear and easy to follow.
However, it's going to take time to figure out how to use the scanner. It appears that I won't be able to scan wirelessly directly from the printer to the computer using the printer display panel. And even when I used the scanning software that came with the printer, finding the finished document is confusing. I'm hoping that the scanning becomes easier without having to buy more software.

What a bargain

My new Epson workforce 845 cost less than half the price of my old printer. I couldn't believe the price for all it offers. It wasn't hard to set up and it didn't require any special configurations for printing envelopes. Now printing, copying and scanning is a breeze. I couldn't believe I could get this kind of printer for such a low price. Installing the software in my other computers was quick and easy. My experience with Epson has always been positive, but this printer is so much better than expected.

Awesome Printer!

I began to use this for the past week to print out reams of paper for my classes and other activities. It is fast when it comes to printing out 2 sides and delivers quality print outs. The wireless printing is such an awesome feature because I can be farther away from it & still be able to print. The scans are alright.

Great machine

I finally have a printer that accepts printing from my "I" machine like pad. This 845 does it well.
I also love the duplex function and the FAX and Scan capabilities as well as the copier. I am very much impressed by the copier and it accuracy and this goes for the scanner as well.
All in all, this is one great machine and worth every penny.
My only regret is that the second tray cannot be used for photo paper and the first used for standard as the 845 defaults constantly to tray 1 unless you have the ability in drivers to force it to tray 2.
Overall I just love the Epson 845.

so far so good

I've had the printer for a week. Set up took longer than I thought but, was easy enough. Printed documents are very sharp and clear. For regular text printing the speed is much faster than my old printer and faster than I expected. Haven't printed anything with graphics or photos yet. The scanner is (almost) awesome! Image quality and speed of the scan are incredible. I (almost) love this scanner! The problem? I have to connect via USB to my PC (MAC OS X 10.6.8, actually) in order to scan. REALLY??? We haven't progressed beyond a physical connection in order to scan??? SURELY, I missed something in the setup! Although, I think it said you could scan wirelessly to a PC but, not to a MAC. I might have that wrong, though. HEY, EPSON... can this be fixed with a software or firmware update? It's a real nuisance. It's kinda dumb to be able to print wirelessly and not be able to scan wirelessly. (Or, maybe I just didn't set it up right?)

Problem with scan and cassette #2
on March 8, 2012

Printer installed without a problem except didn't notice that password was defaulted to all CAPS
All functions worked as described except: can not scan from printer - manual said to reboot PC; this did not help - did not reinstall drivers
Had heard that the WF 845 would not default to cassette #2 so emptied cassette #1 so as to not ruin photo paper and tried to print from cassette #2 kept resetting to cassette #1. Called technical support; they were unfamiliar with this printer and not helpful - Gave up and later discovered that if you put one piece of paper (plain or photo) in cassette #1 it pulls from cassette #2 just fine. Sent technical email; hopefully someone knowledgeable on the WF 845 will respond on the scan issue

Workforce Series

I have had a couple of the Workforce printers, previously the 645, which I loved, but unfortunately I wore it out. The 845 is an adequate replacement. The touch screen is not "touch friendly", I find I really have to push hard on the screen at times. The document feeded is good but not as good as the 645 was. I cannot find out how to turn off the ABBYY feature, all I need to do is scan documents for history retention. This slows down the save of the .pdf file. I rate this printer average to good. Not a bad printer overall.

EPSON WorkForce 845 All-in-One Printer

Pro ... Crisp and clean in normal and better modes
Con ... Unreadable on lowest setting
Pro ... good printer for the price ... have not tried photos on real photo paper yet.
Con ... photo on plain paper has lines running through it like the cartridge is messed up or something
Pro ... love the two paper trays
Con ... would prefer the trays have better accuracy when holding the paper; the guides are loose and when making more than one copy of the same document, some pages are askew and not in the same place as the previous document.
Con ... only one paper cover (bottom tray only) - would be nice if in the top tray too.
PRO ... LOVE THE FAST DRY INKS!!! Vibrant. Very pleasing.
Have not tried the fax or scanner yet.
This is great for printing documents as well as shipping labels for home and home business requirements.
out of 10, I give it a 9.5 so far. (4/5 stars)
