No 3 X 5 Cards!

I am stunned that this "Top of the Line" printer will not accept 3 X 5 cards. The smallest it will accept is a "3.5 X 5 card". Apparently there is no such thing as a 3.5 X 5 card as none of the retailers or even the internet offers them. If you try to print a standard 3 X 5 card, it is not guided and rotates during the print. What were they thinking?

Epson Workforce 845 review

Relative to it's features and capability the 845 is a very compact machine with a footprint that makes it convenient to sit side by side on a standard sized desk along with a desktop PC that interfaces with it most frequently.
The display is well designed, intuitive and icons clearly visible.
The scans, even double sided scans via the ADF, are faster than it's more popular name brand competitors in the same price range.
The print quality is sharp for both B&W and color. For high volume B&W printing a laser would still be a more cost-effective solution but this is very good for medium duty printing.
The scanning software is at least as good as that available from again more popular name brand competitors; the conversion of 30 sheet double sided scans to PDF is faster and has very desirable subtleties like accurate auto-rotate of scanned images.
As of this review have used it with a direct connect USB cable only so have no experience with how it works over either an Ethernet or wireless network.
I would recommend this to a friend!

RIDICULOUS WIRELESS

About once a month or so my printer stops working. The computer shows the little green checkmark next to the Epson Workforce 845. The printer's little green WiFi light is lit up. The "Check Network Connection" page prints out clean as a whistle with ZERO problems and says "Network is working correctly". My documentation that said sheet says to refer if my problems persist -- which it shows clearly there should be none -- is worthless and offers no help or networking tips as promised. Last time, I wrote down what I did that finally got my system up and running (after hours of trial the Epson troubleshooting way): "Delete printer. Go to Devices. Add printer. Finds wireless printer automatically." This did not work this time. How do you fix something, that by all accounts should be working perfectly??? My wireless is strong. Our other wireless internet devices work just fine. I manually typed in the address of the network when adding the printer to the devices and it said it worked...but no test page printed. Can't update drivers/firmware...why???? CAN'T FIND THE PRINTER THAT CLAIMS TO BE CONNECTED TO MY NETWORK. A little irritated.

Multiple issues....

First off is paper handling, regardless of settings and paper used, the feeder continuously grabs multiple sheets and feeds them resulting in unusable documents and prints. Have also had issues if photo tray was loaded as well as letter tray, it will randomly grab from the photo tray. If you run out of one color ink you can no longer print even if it is the magenta ink and you are trying to print only in black and white. After only 5 months the cd tray icon lit up and you are no longer able to print. I have never used this function. The only solution seems to be to wipe out the drivers and completely uninstall and then reinstall. This now happens on a regular basis. It is a known problema nd yet they have not come up with any updates or solutions.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love the Speed

My 2 PCs with Windows had no problem with the installation. My Apple had some problems with the install which required a call to support. The second support agent got it going. I was getting a request for ipad user name and password, I don't have an ipad, the agent said that he had not seen this before, with repeated attempts we got it started. Now that it's up a running, the speed and the color is great.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Loving the 845

Super easy setup. I had have two PCs, a Macbook and two iPads set up quickly via wireless printing. Actually the Airprint on the iPads takes no setup....just make sure your printer is on the network and select print!
Scanning is clear and prints come out quickly. Very pleased with my purchase!

I was worried that this printer would be complicated to set up with all the features it has but that was not the case. Setup is super-easy, just follow the prompts.
