Disappointed

Disappointed in the picture quality of this 55" TV. Not as good of a picture as our 8 year old 40" Sony TV. Should have waited until the price came down on the 240 hz Ultra HD TV. Can get this now for about what we paid for the W800B model we bought just this past Spring.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Provided wall mount uses METRIC bolts!!

We are not critical about our video quality, but we needed a unit that looked reasonable at 40 degrees off center, did not show distracting reflections of the windows, and wasn't the bottom level build quality. These requirements eliminated most brands. We chose this unit based on early reviews and a special sale price at the retailer.
We were not leaning towards a smart TV (as I would have preferred a dumb panel and external streaming box), but the network connection tells us about firmware updates as soon as they are available and makes updating trivial and convenient. This was an unexpected and valuable benefit. Wireless setup was straight forward though I still plan to connect through network cable for more reliable streaming.
The provided wall mount keeps the TV very close to the wall and still provides good ventilation, but is a pain to install. WARNING: This TV needs an extra adapter to get VESA compliant mount spacing. I wasn't willing to pay the extra $$, so we ended up using the provided stand for wall mounting. Since the mount does not provide flexibility in bolt locations and it uses METRIC bolts, I had to find and special order wall anchors. I used MB8S TOGGLER SNAP-TOGGLE anchors (http://www.toggler.com/products/snaptoggle/part_numbers.php). They worked very well but I had to buy a box of 25 to get the 7 I needed. This was about the same cost as the VESA adapter alone. Unfortunately YOU MUST GET THE BRACKET HOLES FOR THIS MOUNT EXACTLY LEVEL since it does not provide any adjustments. This was a major pain. I wish Sony had either made the TV with VESA mount holes or included the adapter at no charge instead of spending development and support $$$ on this finicky mount. Short of that they should have used SAE bolts in units sold in the USA.

Picture loses contrast, I sit about 10ft away & 5ft to any side of the screen the picture quality and contrast decreases about 20 to 30%. Even more if u increase sitting angle, its unwatchable.Don't buy this TV unless u sit directly in front of it. Not what i expected from SONY. Now i'm stuck with this poor quality TV

Thank you for your feedback. Please check the link below to order a wall mount bracket depending of the inches of your Sony television:
I would recommend it only if the price was very good, and the individual had another sound system to use instead of the one for the TV. Very disappointed that Sony would put out such poor sound quality on one of their televisions.
