I purchased this TV to be used as a living room TV. Attached to my TV is a cable box, Sony Blu Ray player, an Xbox One and a Yamaha sound bar.
I do like all the various viewing modes and there is plenty of room to customize your own modes. Cinema 1 is the mode I use for when watching movies on the Sony Blu Ray player and the picture looks great. Game mode is the mode I use for the Xbox One. Video games look great on this TV. I also run my cable box through my Xbox One. I leave it on game mode when watching TV this way and it looks fine to me. Football/baseball/hockey all look great though I may experiment with different modes for watching TV via the Xbox One. I use a basic Yamaha sound bar with this TV and it is a plus over standard TV audio. I only knocked off a star because I have this TV in a TV stand and the stand that comes with the TV seems rather weak, almost a little flimsy but other than that I love this TV.

This unit has a wonderfully vivid picture and smooth motion to back it up. There is not any out-of-box calibration required thanks to the factory preset picture modes. It has very deep blacks from edge-to-edge, and clean, crisp color to contrast the fantastic blacks. The surrounding bezel is almost nonexistent so it looks like the images are painted on the wall. The 3D is deep and clear, with no ghosting, and many options to tweak depth and output settings. It has great features and a generous viewing plane for the price.

BEST TV WE EVER HAD!

Had this for more than a month, more than enough time to properly tweak the settings (had experience with test patterns before) and can honestly say this set is a joy to watch. A superb picture in every way.
I have a large collection of movies recorded onto DVD-R from stations like TCM-HD, HBO, etc. and was afraid the much bigger screen would bring out more of the limitations of these home made discs compared to my KD34XBR960 which recently needed to be replaced. So happy to say that isn't the case at all! Of course, not the replication of the original HD source but this set does wonders with an up-converted signal and an overall 7.5-8 comparison which is more than one could ask for.
And though we did not purchase it for 3D, that is a a bonus. The simulated 3D is really surprising in it's effectiveness and we watch true HD on our on demand services that comes free with premium channel subscriptions. So we're now hooked on 3D as an extra feature to enjoy.

This TV has the best picture of any TV I have ever owned. The 50" size suits my needs. The 3D works well enough to enjoy some 3D movies. The glasses that came with it are Great!!! The smart TV feature, really expands my viewing choices a lot!!!

Great experience buying it from Sony, except the price dropped a few days after I made the deal. Sony lowered the price by $172.85 instead of the $200.00 the price dropped (from $999 to $799). I'm still waiting to hear for an explanation of what happened to the $27.15 difference.

This product has features designed to promote an entertainment freedom of choice. I hope to see improvements through continued software development, one feature that would be nice is to be able to play multiple songs during Slideshow.

Great HDTV for gaming if Playstation Network is working.
This is my 2nd television. My first one only lasted one year. Sony replaced it under an extended warranty which I purchased at time of sale.
