Never did get the streaming video to work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works well, and Sony keeps up with software update

This is replacing a VIZIO blue-Ray player that stopped connecting to the Internet after a software update. The Sony has much better performance and much better selection of apps.
Wish it had a little better indication of power on, like a logo on the screen immediately on power on.
I would recommend this to a friend!

more than I expected

Had more features than I expected, I was definitely able to watch more than just Blu-rays and Netflix. Quiet, sleek and unnoticeable with the right set up. Great investment for any type of home entertainment setup. my only gripe was that the remote could have been a little bigger (I have large hands) and have back-lit buttons.
Player has worked very well for everything I've thrown at it. The on screen navigation menus, however, are a little clunky and dated. Also some of the apps (Netflix, for example) are sluggish compared to those on the PS3 or through the Smart HUB of my TV. I will use those instead of the players.

Great Purchase

Have several Sony products in my home & have never been a problem at all to set up or fail me electronically. Very reliable & that is why I purchased this Blu-ray player to update my old one.
