Menus Difficult
on August 31, 2014

The player is nice, small and very lightweight. It moves easily when you press the buttons on the unit. I found the menus somewhat difficult to maneuver and understand clearly.

I have had 5 different Sony Blue-Rays and none of them have worked. the current BDP 5200 lights up the door opens and then it shut downs. I have a 5200 because one of your representatives told me that "in his opinion Sony Blue rays are not compatible with Sony KDL-65W850A. I find that hard to believe. If you could find a technician that can help I would appreciate it.

Got this Blu-ray to replace an old pioneer Blu-ray and once the Sony was installed it was an immediate improvement. The picture was sharper and much better better color. Also, the remote control from Sony is much better then the Pioneer and another other Blu-ray players version.
Going to purchase Sony Blu-ray players going forward.

Excellent DVD, Poor Wi-Fi

Bought this to go with our new Sony KDL60W630B TV, picked it over a lower cost Sony because of the Wi-Fi. The upsale pitch was it would be an easy way to update firmware/software when it is available. However, the Wi-Fi is a royal pain, it will not connect. I had hoped the negative reviews I had read about the Wi-Fi problems were a result of people not understanding how to set it up. I was wrong. Trying to get it to work is exceptionally frustrating. The interesting part of this is, the new Sony TV easily connected to our Apple Airport Extreme. Should have listened to the review warnings and bought the less expensive Sony DVD without Wi-Fi. To update this unit I had to connect it to the internet via cable anyway.

Thank you for your feedback and for choosing SONY. For connectivity issues, please check the link below:
The Internet connection speed can vary for many reasons. Below are the most common causes:
*Network Sharing *Wireless Connection Strength *Router Type *Connection to Your ISP
Any wireless product can experience slow connection speeds. It is normally due to the distance away from the router or other electronic devices in the home interfering with the wireless signal. To improve the wireless connection, try moving the router access point closer to the Sony product that is streaming the video. If the router is close enough, using a wired Ethernet connection is suggested instead.
Sony recommends using a wireless (N) router for streaming Internet video. Using a wireless (B) router will not work very well, if at all, for streaming video and would be the cause of the video stopping, pausing or playing poorly. A wireless (G) router is not as fast as (N), but should be able to reliably stream video. However, HD video will stream better with (N).
NOTE: A connection speed of 2.5 Mbps or higher is recommended for streaming standard definition (SD) Internet video, and a connection speed of 10 Mbps or higher is recommended for streaming high definition (HD) Internet video.
If you still have the issue unresolved Your ISP may be experiencing heavy Internet traffic. In this case, performance might be improved by manually changing the Primary DNS Server option to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.8.4 in the Network Settings menu, please check the link below:
Horrible customer service. Didn't work right from day one. They sale products before testing and working out all of it's problems.

BR 3D DVD

Piece of junk! Menu system lousy. I only got 3D to work once (accidently stumbled on correct setup that one time). DVD player is hooked up to my Sony KDL50W800B 3d tv using a HIGH quality HDMI cable. All attempts (but once accidently) to view a 3D DVD failed, with message like "3D connection not found".

Hello! Sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble with your 3D Blu-Ray player. Please visit http://esupport.sony.com/ for some troubleshooting tips and technical support. Thanks!
Product would connect to WIFI one day and not the next and would lock-up and have to be unplugged. I returned this for a Samsung and have had no issues.
