Problem with Internet Access

I am disappointed this time's purchase. I had problem getting internet access with this DVD player. Wi-Fi connection shows ok but internet access shows 'failed'. I have contacted support three times and they are still trying to figure out the problem. One time they gave me the case number and said someone from the second level would call me back but never did. They reviewed the setting of the player and my modem and router and indicated problem most likely came from the player's software inside, which needs an upgrade.

slow & not as user friendly

This 2014 unit is not as user friendly & accessible as the older 'google TV' box... we really wish we could revive the older box or, at least, fix/repair/replace the remote for the older box which is all than busted on the older box...

Devise has poor HDMI port

The HDMI port on the Blu-ray player does not allow for a secure connection of the HDMI cable to the devise. The connection is not tight, and therefore, the signal is lost to the television set. The connection can be manipulated to get the signal to the TV, but the fix is not permanent.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Problems, problems, problems!

The HDMI port does not allow for a secure connection with the HDMI cable. As a result, there is a loss of connectivity, and the cable connection must constantly be manipulated to allow the signal from the blu-ray player to reach the television.

Mediocre Player, Worse Remote Control Ever

Player has performed up to expectations although dust easily affects playback, and there doesn't appear to be any way to clean the laser.
No panel lights to tell if the device is dead or alive. Chassis is so light that you virtually cannot close the DVD drawer by hand without the device sliding across the table. Eject and Power functions are on the same (un-lit) button. Can't tell which button you're touching, but it's ALWAYS the wrong button...nice touch Sony.
Didn't notice anywhere on the product packaging where this player uses "CINAVIA" technology...this is NOT a plus. Guess Sony didn't think you'd mind.
The remote control packaged with this player is a cheap throw-away, (will not control the TV or any other device),,, suggest you keep the remote from the player you're replacing. Chances are it's WAY better than the remote control Sony provided.
All in all, it's a cheap player that looks & operates that way.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Disc Player

This is a great disc player. The only drawback is the tiny remote. It is very hard to operate with large fingers.

Worked great for a while

It worked amazing for a while and then one day it wouldn't turn on. I unplugged it and finally got it to turn on and it will not pick up my wifi, so no Hulu or Netflix for me. I've only had it for 3 months.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're sorry for what happened here. Kindly follow the troubleshooting steps below:
1. Check if your unit is updated. Please follow these steps: Press Home button on your remote >
Go to Setup > Select Software Update.
Note: Please make sure that your device is already connected into your internet.
2. Perform reset on your device. Kindly follow these steps: Press Home button on your remote >
Go to Setup > Select Resetting > Choose Reset to Factory Default Settings and select All settings.
Note: All saved configuration will be deleted once you perform reset on your unit.
3. Kindly perform Refresh Internet Content on your unit. Please follow the these steps:
Press Home button on your remote > Go to Setup > Select Resetting > Select Initialize Personal Information.
Important: If you still have this problem kindly reset your modem and router and do the Refresh Internet Content procedure again.

Great little machine

When I ordered the device I thought it was going to be similar to out other Sony BluRay. All the options are plus the mirror option which is great. This model is actually half the size and works great. I purchased my first Sony BluRay player on impulse. I would advise everyone to buy these. Basically you plug it in and go thru like two minutes or less of getting internet and whatnot. if you can select yes and no you can do it. Very pleased with picture quality and streaming quality. Buy one for yourself.
I would recommend this to a friend!
