Just plugged in and set up on my network. Netflix "House of Cards" streams beautifully with my Sony 4K TV. All Blu-Ray movies look awesome. I highly recommend this to complete your 4K experience.

Nice While it Worked

I purchased this player from Best Buy to complement my recently purchased Sony 7.2 receiver. Initial impressions were good. I like the user interface and playback from streaming and optical media was great. However, after about 6 weeks of use the unit stopped powering off completely, flashing "off" on the display but never powering down. The only solution I found was to unplug the player and plug it back in. While this is an inconvenience, it didn't happen too often (once every other day), the real issues started about three weeks ago, the unit now freezes up multiple times a day, requiring the entire entertainment center to be pulled away from the wall to access the power cord. As if this wasn't enough, the unit no longer recognizes ANY form of optical media, choosing instead to try reading it for 2 minutes before telling you onscreen that "the disc isn't recognized". The most disheartening aspect of this whole situation is that this player isn't inexpensive. Retailing at almost $180.00, I was expecting it to last a bit longer than 3 months. I am very disappointed with the player's performance and hope that my unit was just a lemon.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Often freezes and requires unplugging and plugging in to work again. No flash player on the internet browser so its impossible to play TV shows through the browser. Directions on how to use this system are basically non-existent. 2D to 3D conversion does not seem to work either.

Build: Plastic top with metal bottom and rubber legs. WEIRD screw placement with sharp point in the center of the device, not covered or protected. Worried it was gonna scratch my wooden shelf. it does not, but its weird to leave a sharp screw open like that. Build quality if fine for plastic. buttons seem to have nice click. Would appreciate some light for where the buttons are though.
Blu-ray player: Works well... as expected a blu-ray player should. Connected to a 7.2 Onkyo receiver and no issue that i could perceive. They did this part right.
Remote: Less than desirable cluttered remote. I guess the Home, SEN, Netflix buttons are supposed to be features, I found them in the way. Is IR blaster, not wifi, so feels extremely slow compared to other internet devices such as a ROKU3, which makes navigating seem a lot more fluid and responsive. Minus a star.
Software and Navigation: Navigation works well, its easy to navigate. However this is my major dislike of the Sony, and one reason why its getting 3 stars. There is no option to remove channels you don't want. I don't want the WWE station visible! I want the 5 channels I use visible. This sucks that Sony doesn't let us decide what channels to see and not see. Not only that, but scrolling through video channels just feels like a burden vs. ROKU3. I can choose my channels. Also the display is starting to annoy me. The blu-ray BD icon in the bottom right corner seems like an eyesore.
Netflix: App has some flaws. Pausing and resuming, there is weird delay. There is a partial netflix overlay and the screen freezes for about 2 seconds while the audio continues. I watched subtitled videos and the subtitles lagged behind the audio (due to this i believe). Button response seems extremely sluggish, which often resulted in double/extra clicks to do something, then the system catches up, and you've exited the app entirely. Again this is true for Youtube. It is not the best experience. Again comparing to a ROKU3.
HBO GO: So googling on the internet i see that only sony devices that support the android app get HBO GO. I paid 150 bucks for this device, and again, the cheaper ROKU3 wins, and does have HBO GO.
Vudu: Perhaps this is all Vudu's fault. Why is there not an option to make MY VUDU the start screen (F*** you, I don't want to see your store every time I load vudu). Not only that, fix your software, if you try to exit the app with the return button, you cannot confirm exit, yet the cancel button seems to work just fine, hm.
Overall, the device is a great blu-ray player, and hopefully software support can fix some of my complaints. Most of them seem easily remedied.
Not surprising to say, I recommend a ROKU3 over this device if you're looking for the online experience and not specifically a blu-ray player. It just has a more mature software experience, along with a more snappy wifi remote, which makes IR blasters seem like slugs.
