Gets rid of unwanted odors (indoor dog; musty winter); decreases frequency of required dusting; noticeably decreased allergy symptoms; and makes a soft "white noise" for sleeping.
Moves the air around, so great for summertime.

I have allergies and COPD, and this has been a great investment. I leave it running constantly on 3. It moves quite a bit of air so it does make a little noise, but nothing I find objectionable. After all, you got to move the air to clean the air, and it definitely makes a difference in the quality of air that you breathe.
I can find the replacement filters locally at a popular big box store, or catch them on sale online at the Holme's website and stock up.
Design wise, it's a very simple but effective device. There is not much there to go wrong reliability wise... it's a fan, some filters and a control board, and that's about it. Parts that aren't there can't fail

I used to be a serviceman for a major catalog based retailer when I was still just a pup. This cleaner works better and more reliably than many I've seen and worked on that cost several times the price.

Be realistic, don't try to run it on setting 1 and expect it to do much.

Excellent filter

I've been using air filters for more than 20 years. Bought the first hap756 a little over 10 years ago which finally gave up the ghost so ordering a replacement. I have another one I bought 6 years ago and that's still running fine. The level 4 setting is rather loud and only use that sparingly. I typically have it on level 1 to keep the noise down. Having one in my bedroom helps to create a whitenoise to block unwanted sounds from waking me up. You can definately tell its working after a month when you open the panel to see the black carbon filters turn white from all the dust which can be easily vacuumed out.

Absurdly overpriced air filters for $35 cheapest

The motor is good. One side of the filter you can not get to for cleaning. They say to change every 3 months. That is $140!! Like buying a cheap printer/copier and then you get shellacked on the ink!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We live in urban NYC, beside the Brooklyn Bridge; Air quality is severely polluted. Before buying this filter I needed several breathing treatments daily w/a nebulizer. After a month of having it run full blast, I'm off all breathing treatments and happily recovering from pneumonia. The machine arrived well packaged, very easy to set up... No problems with the filter door (it clips and stays shut). Within two weeks I noticed the buildup of both course and fine debris. Set on level 4 (highest setting), the white-noise output fades into the background. Far as square footage, this machine is cleaning about 500sqft. and doing the job very well. I pay .18+ per kWh for electric; Running full blast 24/7 my bill is up about $20.00 (less than a movie ticket and dinner out). I can recommend this machine 100%. Added benefit: My tacky-cardia due to nebulizer treatments has stopped. This filter has improved air quality immensely, and in my opinion it's been life saving. Buy with confidence.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought 2 of these at the end of November in hopes of helping with pet dander and dust. We used to use Ionizers, running 24/7 until we recently discovered they are dangerous to run while any human/pet is in the room. We all have asthma, myself & my husband being diagnosed in adulthood. We can't say the ionizers caused all of us to have ongoing respiratory issues but I can say once we removed them all from our home we are starting to feel better with very little to no coughing/congestion 1st thing in the morning. We hope these air purifiers will serve our needs now that we no longer run the ionizers.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased it a month ago and have been very pleased with it. It has 4 speeds and I usually run it on 1 or 2 (more quiet and all I need). I have it next to my wood stove and it picks up a lot of dust. I vacuum the outer carbon filter every few weeks. There are 3 HEPA filters inside. They are a bit expensive but this site has constant sales and you can purchase them in multiple quantities at a lower price. On high speed this unit will handle a good size room. It is also very nice in appearance. Well pleased with my purchase. I looked at quite a few filter units and this was the best I found in my price range.
