I have this unit running continuously but i am also watch thru the front of the unit for the carbon filters to get dirty. I just dust them off banging them together once a week and change them out every 6 months.Once a year for the larger hepa filters.I dont have such allergic reactions as I did previous to running this machine.

I have had mine for 4 years. Where I live there is a lot of dust. This hepa filter picks up a lot of dust, the down side is that for as much dust as it traps, it still misses at least 25% of the dust by going around the filters. It then gets caught in the fan that is really hard to clean, it also spits dust onto my ceiling. The pre filters are full of dust in 3 weeks and so to make them last longer I have to vacuum them off and there are sheets of 1/4 inch dust to be vacuumed, this tells me it is getting a lot of dust. It does help with my life threatening allergies, swelling of eyes, itching of nose, and breathing, but I believe I hepa filter system that uses only 1 filter would be much better for me as there would be less places that the air could go around the filters. It is rather quite even on high and does not mess with my TV enjoyment. Over all it is a good unit for the price but would be a much better unit if it was one solid filter instead of 3 separate filters. Holmes makes many filters already so maybe they can make just one more. In the mean time whirlpool makes one for up to 500sq ft that has cadr of 300 to 350 that uses 1 filter and consumer reports rates it as number 1. If it had been available 4 years ago when I bought my holmes I may not have bought a holmes. Granted it is a bit more costly to buy and replace filters, so if you are looking for lower cost this is the model for you.

Exactly what I needed!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the HAP-756 unit for the large living room-and-adjoining family room of my house. The unit has four speed ratings including a "sleep" level 1 which is both quiet and thoughtful. Intended for large coverage area, the unit is actually lighter in weight than I expected. The purifier housing design which incorporates three HEPA filter compartments, each of which accommodates a separate carbon filter (for odor) attests to both [air volume] throughput capacity and functionality. One minor downside: the unit has only one integrated grasp-point for handling but can use at least one or two more for ease of carrying.

Clean air at last!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had the machine for a couple of weeks now and, after letting it work in several different rooms to knock out any odors in each, it now stays in our master bedroom near the master bath, where it's certainly been useful. It's nice looking and I have no issue with it's dba levels. Since it may be moved to different locations from time to time, I do wish it had a handle or handholds.
I am dealing with a progressive lung disease and have high hopes that this machine will bring me comfort. So far I know I'm sleeping better.

WONDERFUL PRODUCT

I like the ones I own, bought one to try years ago, around $90. A month later I bought 3 more at same price. I buy the replacement filters elsewhere, in a large supply. I have 7 cats and 5 litter boxes and the dust from the litter is everywhere. I read somewhere the unit should not be used longer than 16 hours at a time, so I rotate them. I buy cheap air conditioner filters (any size) when they are on sale at the grocery store. I prop 2 of them in front of the units to help the inner filters last longer. The units will dry out your nose and there is no longer phlegm when I wake up. The filth on the outer filters show you what you are breathing everyday without the units. I am ready to buy 3 more, to keep in other rooms. Excellent product, and if there is a hum, it is white noise that I can live with.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this for about 6 or 7 years and it is working wonderfully and the only difficulty I have is closing the door after changing the filters. The other problem I have is remember to look at the light that indicates I need to change the filters because it works so great I forget it is there. But I could not breath without it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family had just moved to a new home that has carpeting in all the rooms and lots of dust. I would be constantly sneezing whenever I was in the house. I could even see lots of dust particles floating around in the air when the sun shone through the blinds. Anyhow, after I purchased the large room sized air purifier, I could feel a noticeable difference when I went upstairs. After awhile I stopped sneezing, too. The dust is much less and I could see on my carbon filter a layer of dust forming from continued use. I leave my filter on 24/7. It is a great product. It is not the prettiest thing to be put in a room; but, I would rather breath cleaner air than think about how this machine doesn't fit with the decor :)

Purchased 2 months ago.
Have CAID (chronic airway and digestive inflammatory disease).
Finally can sleep whole night as air born allergens are not present.
Reccomend this as modality to reduce allergy symptoms.
