I am not happy with the lid on this. It does not seal tight. Have to use foil over to hold in the heat.

Thank you for taking the time to review one of our products as we appreciate all of the concerns our consumers bring to our attention. Newer model Crock-Pot™ slow cookers cook at a higher temperature and are designed with a small gap, approximately 1/4", between the lid and the stoneware. Some units include a vent hole. This gap prevents pressure due to steam build up that can cause the lid to crack or shatter. If the lid were to form a perfect seal around the stoneware, the unit will operate like a pressure cooker rather than a slow cooker.

Crock-pot lid shattered on first use

I received this Crock-pot as a gift for Christmas. The very first time I used it, I tried to slow cook a whole chicken on low to make chicken and noodles. When I came home from work, the lid had completely shattered into a million tiny pieces into my chicken. Not only did I have nothing else prepared for dinner but now I have a useless crock-pot.

I have cooked regularly with crock pots each fall and winter since college, and have a vintage 4 quart that has been my staple for years. However, the smaller pot does not usually make enough to have much of any leftovers in our house, nor enough to share dinner with friends. I received this model for Christmas and enjoyed using it for the season last year... that is until it overheated and melted the formica countertop in my kitchen. We discovered early on that we could not leave it on while away from the house or overnight, which defeated the purpose for many of my recipes. Also, on several occasions just touching the exterior of the pot resulted in unfriendly burns. I wish the temperature control was designed better, but as it stands, I will have to replace this with something else as I am afraid to use this pot and create a fire hazard.
Pros: easy care, affordable
Cons: safety hazard

Replaced my 20 year old crockpot with the bigger more modern looking one and I have already learned that it wasn't a great idea. In checking on my dish I touched the side of the crockpot and was burned! The exterior should not get so hot as to cause injury. I am shocked that there is no insulation. My old crockpot got warm but didn't sizzle when water touched it. Dangerous.
Pros: looks nice
Cons: exterior hot enough to burn and cause injury

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use my crockpot several times a week because it’s such a convenient way to have healthy meals done when you get home from a long day at work or school. Always comes out perfect no matter if I put frozen or fresh! I work very long hours & have long hours in the gym, so frankly I couldn't live without this in my life! I love to live a healthy active lifestyle and this product performs for my life to perfection, and is well made and a quality product worth your $!!! It will last for years to come!
Pros: sleek modern look, large capacity, convenient, time saving
I would recommend this to a friend!

My slow cooker is easy to use and gives me good results. It does warm the house up so I don't use it as much in the summer. It saves me on fuel costs when cooking beans, roasts, soups & stews because it only uses a few cents in electricity & helps with heating costs for winter. It takes a little bit of time to learn how to get the best results, but once you do, the sky's the limit.
Pros: easy to use, low energy use
Cons: too much heat in the summer

I have had this crockpot for a little over a year. I use it for everything, I bought it for chili, but now I use it for chicken and dumplings, stews and much, much more. I love the different temps., the timer, everything. It makes cooking while I'm at work a snap, It is also so easy to clean.
Pros: temp. control, easy to clean
