Got a great deal on this refrigerator and were excited to purchase a model that usually would have been beyond our price range. However, after using the refrigerator for 9 months now, it's just been average.
It works, has a couple cool features, like the door alarm and slide-out freezer tray but the usability is quite poor. The ice bucket scoop is on the left hand side and the handle points left, meaning you can't grab it with your right hand unless you cross your arms over. Also, if the right door is closed first, the left door will often bang into the edge of the right door and prevent you from closing the refrigerator unless you open the right door, close the left door and then close the right door again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is by far the best, most efficiently designed fridge I have ever had. I've had a side by side, a side by side counter depth and a regular counter depth. This fridge, at ~22 cu ft, fits more food and is easier to organize and find things than ANY other fridge I have had. I was nervous about the side and shorter/counter depth. No problem whatsoever. The only small complaint I have is that I wish the veggie drawer was deeper (I buy packaged lettuce in plastic crates and just 1 consumes most of the drawer). The freezer is well organized and easy to find things. I like the sliding drawers, very flexible. My only small complaint is that the larger/deeper drawer at the bottom which goes all the way across the freezer has a fixed plastic divider in the middle that cannot be moved. It makes it more difficult to fit larger/bulker items. Very bright inside, well lit.

The KitchenAid Pro Line Counter-Depth Refrigerator was designed to look built-in, but combined with narrow French doors, it is a space saver that makes our narrow galley-style kitchen seem so much larger. I prefer a galley kitchen layout because I can work on two counters at once. However, the refrigerator is directly across from the dishwasher and it could not be opened while the dishwasher was being loaded. The counter-depth style with narrower French doors solved this problem and gave us a justifiable reason to upgrade our old refrigerator to match our new stainless steel professional style range. We chose the professional style handles to match the range. The freezer drawer and ice-maker are very well planned and the door alarm prevents accidentally leaving the freezer or refrigerator doors open.

I purchased this refrigerator for our new house 2 months ago, and it has been great so far. It looks great in the kitchen and is very functional as well. I really like the deli drawer for storing meats and cheeses, as well as the inside water dispenser. Initially I had a few issues with keeping it clean, but now have a cleaner that works wonders on the stainless steel.

I am a kitchen designer who has watched the buzz over the french door refrigerator for the last 8 years. I finally got one for my own home. Love the stainless steel and Pro-line aesthetics (handles very comfortable); love the freezer on the bottom and the ice maker with a scoop, and chilled water with filter. Am bemused that the water dispenser is on the left; you have to open both doors to get a glass of water. Am still not convinced the french door configuration is better than the standard door. But good product overall.
