Failed after a few months
on September 16, 2013

I purchased this product which failed me after a few months use. It will require service which I am sure will be too costly and not worth the repairs for this printer. I was hesitant to purchase another Canon printer because I had a previous model fail on me as well - both printers didn't even last me one year. I thought I would give them a second chance after a sales rep talked me into it - big mistake. I should have done more research.
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult Setup, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wonderful printer
on November 7, 2013

I've had this printer close to 1 year and it is wonderful. AirPrint is reliable and the main reason I purchased a new printer. It is a bit slow starting up, but we just leave it on all the time since we never know when we are going to send and AirPrint. Quality is wonderful, no little buttons to clean dust out of or get dirty. Love the dual paper tray/feed! I would buy this same printer again. PS - We use Mac OsX for our desktop/laptop computers and Apple iPads and iPhones.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use, looks gorgeous
I would recommend this to a friend!

Dead within a year
on November 8, 2013

When it was working it was OK for the price. But just as I replaced a cartridge it died. No amount of "turn the printer off, unplug it from the power source, reconnect the plug and turn the printer back on" was helpful. The suggestion to "see the service manual" led me to the advice to "contact the service center". Nope. Gotta get a new printer.
Lasted just about one year.

Everything worked for 6 months including wireless printing including AirPrint for iPhone and iPad. Now nothing works wireless, gave up and used cable and this is my last Canon.
Cons: Difficult to use, Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint, Difficult Setup, non wireless

Ink eater

The printer functions as expected but it has small ink vials and go's through ink VERY fast. If you don't own the ink factory, look for another printer.
Pros: Easy Setup
Cons: High Ink Consumption
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Still Working Great after One Year

I have owned this printer for over a year now and I am still very pleased with it. The prints are beautiful and does not use as much ink as other competitors. Standard photo prints come out sharp and fast. The scanner works great and the software is able to automatically detect the document size and crop it. This printer would be perfect if it had a fax and an auto-feeder, but was not a deal breaker for me. The only downside that I have is some print jobs are slow to start because the printer is performing a cleaning.
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: cost of ink, sometimes print jobs are slow to start
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good while it lasts

We loved how easy it was to set up for multiple printers (one on USB and the others wireless). We use this to print from Windows, Mac, Linux, and iOS devices. The copy function is great and it is hard to tell the copy from the original.
However, after a little more than a year, the printer just stopped working with a "print head" error. In researching this, it is common and there is no way to fix it--just built-in obsolescence. If it was more reliable, I would give it a very high rating.
Pros: fast print speed, easy to use, nice features
Cons: unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works Great For Me!

This is my second Pixma series printer. Love the all in one functionality and that the printer is small enough to fit on a shelf in my wall unit. No complaints. My observation is that most printers today don't last as long as ones from previous years so I'm happy with a couple of years especially considering the reasonable price.
