Best Printer I ever purchased!.

I bought this product for the quality of scanning old photographs for a photo album sent to a publishing company. My old printer could not do this. When I searched the internet for a printer with with high pixels and quality nothing really came up in the search. So I went to the store and the gentleman at the store was so knowledgeable and showed me the difference of scanning on this Canon compared to others. My pictures sent to the publishing company came out beautiful and when people see the book they ask how did I get the pictures to look so great and I tell them on my Canon Scanner/printer. I recommend this printer for anyone that wants great quality printing, scanning and easy to use. Thanks Canon
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, Lightweight/Portable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use, scanning quality excellent, makes old photos look new
Cons: High Ink Consumption

terribly slow and expensive ink

Horribly slow, runs and runs, not sure what it is doing....never have been able to scan......color ink runs out when I don't even use color so have to purchase color cartridges to print in black and white. Five cartridges....please. I hate this printer.
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Difficult Setup, High Ink Consumption, Flimsy Construction
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great printer IF you learn how to use it

Many reviews here complain of high ink consumption. Just because the printer 'nags' you that the ink is low, it DOES NOT mean that the ink cartridge is empty. By all means, keep a full set of cartridges handy, (I order when I get the first 'low ink' warning), but DO NOT REPLACE THE INK CARTRIDGE YET. Wait until the printer tells you that the ink cartridge is EMPTY. Even when the printer does tell you an cartridge is empty, you can still print a few more pages by pressing OK on the printer to ignore the warning because the printhead itself holds a LOT of ink. Using this method, in nearly a year of frequent use, printing photos, web pages, and lots of letter-size posters on card stock, as well as letters and envelopes, I've never had anything not print correctly because the ink actually ran out before I replaced it. I NEED a printer with both tray for letter paper AND a rear-feed for envelopes, card stock and photo paper. The newer models without a rear feed just don't meet my needs.

Ok for the price

I purchased this on sale to print DVD's but also use the wireless scan capability. You cannot print to DVD using the WIFI connection, it must be wired to the computer. The printer also has a quirk where you must close the DVD print slot, then open it again to insert the tray. You cannot leave the DVD slot open between print jobs which is quite annoying.
Pros: Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Difficult to use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

THIS IS AWFUL. JUST DON'T DO IT.
Ever since I got it, it has been nothing but a pain.A PAIN. It jams, it has difficulty installing, it won't print, EVERYTHING. IT'S BEEN NOTHING BUT A PAIN
Oh my gosh, it angers me so much.
Just don't buy this. Save the sweat and the screams for something else. This is not worth it.

I'm no stranger with printers. I thought we bought a decent one. I mean, Canon has been around for some time now. I love my Canon camera, so why not? We've had it for about 2-3 years now and it's been nothing but a pain. It turns on, after about 15 minutes of it warming up and getting ready to act like it's going to print, it warms up some more. Then, maybe, if we are lucky, it'll bypass a reoccurring error message and it'll print something. The quality used to be pretty decent, not anymore. I don't what the deal is but avoid this older model if you see it sitting on the shelves. RUN. Save yourself the sanity.

A great printer but:

Excellent picture and print quality but Canon removed the simple button from the printer to select forward or back paper. Had to do a lot of searching to find the formula to "assure" back paper would be used. This made printing checks a real nuisance for awhile.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great all-in-one

I recently bought this printer due to needing a printer with a scanner/copier. I had been using someone else's device for a couple of weeks, and wanted one of my own. I have to say that the scanner works great. It is easy to save my files to my computer or straight to my flash drive. the quality of the scanner is much better than the scanner i had previously been using. I also love the feature that allows us to print from our phones and ipad. We are building a house, and it makes it so easy to keep track of all of the paperwork. I would highly recommend buying this printer if you are looking for a great value!!
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use
Cons: larger than expected
