This printer is junk.

Stopped printing black after 3 months. Will print all other colors. Just no black, ink cartridges are full. Have spent extra $$$ on a new print head and new ink cartridges and still no black. Have cleaned and deep cleaned over and over and still no black. Complete waste of $100 - will NEVER buy another Canon product.
Cons: High Ink Consumption, unreliable, no black ink

This is my second protest. This printer is an absolute nightmare to operate. Wireless is useless. I have spent hours trying to find answers to various "messages".

Don't Do It

This was my 3rd printer I purchased...all 3 broke within 2 years of when they were purchased...my first 2 stopped printing via Wifi within 12-16 months...my recent one failed to turn on after 13 months not to mention 2 months prior it also stopped printing via Wifi...
Cons: unreliable

Don't use as network printer.

So far as I can tell, this printer has wifi connectivity simply as a novelty. If you expect to print using anything but a USB cable, don't buy. It mysteriously falls off the network every few days leaving you to twiddle the silly dial to once again, re-enter your passphrase. Then turn everything on and off a few times and re-install all the drivers in your computers for good measure. Then it may start working for another 2 or 3 days. As a printer, it's not bad. Quick and quiet, high quality prints. As a network priinter? You'd be better off just putting the box it came in on your desk and trying to print using that.
Pros: Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed
Cons: Difficult Setup, unreliable, horrible network performance

As many seem to have mentioned. We bought this printer in the last few years, have used it very lightly and out of nowhere it will not print black any more. I replaced every cartridge and ran all the various cleaning and diagnostics several times with no luck.
I've wasted time and money -- the cost of replacing all the inks in a futile attempt to get the printer to work is almost as much as buying a cheap replacement printer.
Other things I've noticed -- the drivers for Mac OS aren't great. Some of the functions (like checking the ink levels) simply don't work on the desktop (I am running the latest Mac OS, Yosemite, but it was no different for previous generations).
Will not ever buy another Canon printer based on this experience.

Not a real bad printer but my computer locks up during boot up if the printer is turned on. Same thing happens with another Canon printer I have. Can't find any help to resolve this issue. Printer cleans very often so wastes ink big time. Will never buy another Canon printer!
Pros: cheap
Cons: wastes ink

I loved this printer. The photo quality was awesome, easy installation, and I pretty much had a man crush on it, until the cartridge feed stuck and it kept telling me to contact support. I had this in a box for over a year until my original printer went down. I then programmed this one, and it was amazing. Now it's useless and I'm back to researching printers.
Pros: print quality, ease of setup
Cons: it broke in less than a year!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
