I've had this for over a year now and cannot say anything good about it. All I want is to be able to print over my secure and up-to-date wireless network and doing that with this printer is a nightmare. The help screens and on-screen manual are completely useless. My hacker teenage son and my friend the professional IT guy could not get the wireless printing to work. The Canon support website wasn't helpful -- instead of being written at a consumer level it is written at a tech level I could not understand. I finally really, really needed to get something to print and it took me about 3 hours of trial and error, frustration and guessing, etc., to get it to work wirelessly. For now.
My kids get very frustrated because they cannot print their homework over the network, even after they each installed the up-to-date printer driver/software.
And when it does work...slow slow slow.
I'm very dissatisfied with this printer and absolutely do not recommend it.
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Difficult Setup, unreliable, unreliable wireless, non-stop frustration
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worst Printer Ever

I have had many printers and this is the worst one ever. It is totally unreliable. I wanted a wireless printer and got a useless printer .. it only occasionally works and trying to get the wireless connection is a nightmare. Initial problem with print spooler finally seems resolved. Problem now is the computer will not make the wireless connection and the "help" is a laugh .. so complex that it is maddening.
I have wasted hours trying to get this piece of junk to work
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult Setup, High Ink Consumption, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love this printer

I use this "wireless" printer with a UBS cable and it works very well with it. I love the way it prints and is fast enough for me. I only printed 4 photos with it and it seems to print very well and much faster than my previous Canon. I am very happy with this printer. It is very easy to use.
I would recommend this to a friend!

OK for the money

Bought this for my third home desktop computer. Several years ago I got a Canon LIDE scanner-only machine, which I love and am still using. I will be sad when it finally wears out. I wanted to get another one just like it, but was disappointed to find that no one would sell me a scanner without a paper-burning, ink-guzzling printer. I chose Canon because I liked the quality of the older product, and I was hoping the scanning software provided would be the same, or close to it. Plus, it was super cheap.
I had no major problems setting up for wireless printing and scanning on my home network, including printing from tablets.
I don't print myself, but my son prints things for school. I had to replace a few cartridges after 5 months, which was disappointing, but tolerable. The printing works ok, but seems a bit slow to get started. Have not tried any serious photo printing.
The scanning software IS very similar to my older scanner, but two things are very irritating:
1) the scanner insists on doing a warm-up pass for EVERY page scanned; this means that even though it actually scans faster than the old machine, it takes longer to get the job done. Plus, all those extra passes cut the effective life of the mechanism in half. (I won't be as sad when this one dies.)
2) The available color modes (at least for PDF scanning) are only "Color" and "Grayscale". What happened to "Black and White"? Some documents (e.g. music) can look faint and washed-out when scanned using "Grayscale", but appear much clearer using "Black and White".
Overall, the machine is not bad. I'm just disappointed that, for my purposes, this product seems a bit worse, rather than better, than my older scanner.
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint, Flimsy Construction, long warmup cycles, no black & white color mode for scanning
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Set to self-destruct after one year

I have had this printer for just over a year and it just stopped working. Solid orange warning light. Power issue. It was easy to set up and the wireless worked throughout the house but the build quality is less than what I expected from Canon. So how much are you willing to pay for a one year of use printer?
Pros: Easy Setup
Cons: unreliable

Glad I didn't read these reviews before I bought the MG5320.
It is the best printer I have had including lasers. It may be not as fast as office printers but fast enough to print a cheap sharp copy for duplication later at someone else's expense.
And that includes scanned documents and photos. It also has options within a average person's ability to understand and successfully execute.
Technical support has alway been there when I reach my limit.
I would recommend to others.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE PRINTER!

Don't waste your time with this machine! Print colors are awful, dull and with no true color tone. The machine is noisy and is constantly cleaning the print heads which wastes ink and your money! And the ink cartridges are too small and expense to replace. I will be returning my machine today and will look elsewhere for a better quality printer/scanner.
Pros: there isn't one!
Cons: Difficult to use, Slow Print Speed, Dull Tones & Colors, High Ink Consumption, unreliable, Flimsy Construction, noisy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worst Printer Ever

I bought the MG5320 based upon great reviews .. big mistake. I have never had so much trouble in setting up and using a computer (have had 4 previously). I have spent/wasted hours trying to get it to operate satisfactorily .. there are no written instructions .. just online stuff that never seems to fit my problem. All I want to do is print some stuff .. and can't even find a print setting for documents. And, for example, the "print spooler" (whatever that is) is never turned on and I have to find it and turn it on.
CAVEAT EMPTOR
Pros: cheap
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult Setup
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
